Crumbly Exoticas?

Recommended Posts

So I was wondering if anyone else has trouble with the outer layer of exoticas crumbling when lit on a stove. Is this normal? They don't seem to last nearly as long as cocos when this happens.

it happens in some batches. I've been lucky and have hardly had any of this problem in the 3 boxes I've had, but some forum peeps wont buy exoticas anymore because of it.

I've tried 2 boxes of exoticas, both crumbled all the time, so I no longer buy them. I've heard good reviews of them, except that they started getting crumbly and since neither of the 2 boxes I ordered (tried em once, decided to give them a second chance) worked, I won't order more. They seem like good coals too, and I like how I can size them and stuff by breaking where I want to break em, but the floor damage on linoleum from them made me say no more.

How did you damage a linoleum floor?

I used to love Exoticas, then slowly I started getting some boxes that were hit or miss. Last year when I got them, I had to score the crap outta them to break them, now they just crumble for me.... dry.gif

I've stopped using them all together. I won't go into alot of details, but there have been rumors (well, its not rumors if you include pics) of exoticas containing scap pieces of metal and fabric in some batches..

I still use them in the bar, but ya, the quality fluctuates wildly. This last box was great, hard to break, nice white ash, almost like they used to be, the box before that, softer, darker ash, not as good. But they are still the best finger coals on the market in terms of ash volume, ease of use, and price.
