Is that "instant lighting" I see in the bottom right corner of the box? It says they are "effort-free" to light. I wonder if John's CH instant lights might actually have some competition now?? ph34r.gif If these things actually give off no taste, last longer, and are in fact instant light, I might just have to switch. It would be nice not to go through 6 coals in a session.

Not trying to bash the CH's as I love them, just saying they don't last long.

I actually went to their shop which is located like 5 minutes by my house and I bought one and got one free with it.
They're size are comparable to coco's if not a little bit bigger, and they light pretty easy, around 5 minutes, but are not instant lights. They do light faster than coco's though in my experience, and they ash about the same...not too much. They last about 30-45 minutes each and each box includes 100 pieces. Heat management with these coals are very easy but I have only tried on nakhla, SB, and AF. Overall I like these coals a lot and will go back to buy more. That's my take on these coals.

Well that was just a guess, if you want I can officially check it today when I get home after school and set up a bowl. They're really good coals and I'm sure they last longer than that. I don't use a windcover or anything either if that makes them last longer. I'm not sure.

how anyone gets 1:30 out of coconaras is beyond logical belief.

no coal ive used gets over 45mins unless you use tiny pieces that don't provide enough heat for normal smoking.

yeah exactly...the time I said, 30-45 min, was how long I was getting GOOD clouds with the same coals, after that I had to fiddle with it and stuff but they were still lit of course.

+1

I don't know how people do it, if they actually do it at all...

Here is how I do it.

Indoors (No Humidity, Texas Heat)

Put 2 Coconaras on a phunnel

20 minutes, ash and flip

20 minutes, ash and flip, add windcover

20 minutes, start new coals on stove.

10 minutes remove old embers and add new coals.

Those are rough estimates but that's what I do... and and when I take the coals off the burner there isn't a dark spot on the coal. Even with flipping it takes 10-15 minutes to light, to make that happen but I find the last longer if those bad boys are solid orange all the way around.

Stuie, with that process I'm almost 100% sure you can make these coals last that long as well. I wasn't using a windcover and it still lasted me longer than any other coal I have used. Just wait till you get em, I'm sure you'll like em.

with that process, you get 40mins out of them (w/out a windcover).
pretty much the same as all other good coal
