straussstrauss
Does anyone know why when I try to buy something from hookahcompany.com they add 150% to the price after you select destination country as canada? Something that sosts 10$ comes up to 40+ with shipping I would go to socialsmoke but they dont have Tangiers tobacco.
gunsboy
I am starting to think that I should move to a little town near the US/Canadian border and open a company that sells anything in both countries and then start buying huge amounts of good tobacco as air freshener and move them to canada and repack them and sell them. They should not charge 150% for personal use. This is just for the commercial use. You should only pay GST for personal use.
yashman19
Well its pretty common for tobacco going in to canada to be hit with a heafty tax, so maybe you're just paying that tax. What would really be stupid is if you paid that 150% to hookahcompany, and then ALSO pay more tax for when it enters canada..Send hookahcompany an email asking if that 150% covers the canada tax, and thats it. If not, then yeah screw that order..
Sonthert
Hookah Company has been red-flagged by Canadian Customs as has several other companies...all their packages are being searched and seized that contain tobacco. George has gone to working with a customs broker:your 150% covers all applicable taxes and brokers fees. If the bums come after you foir more taxes, George will take care of it for you. The tobacco George ships you will now be absolutely legal, not "grey" like before. George mentioned there is a problem with his "shopping cart" that they have to have fixed...non-tobacco orders are being charged the Canadian Tax...if you want to order something that isn't tobacco in the next week or two, call them and they will, of course, remove the Canadian Tax from the non-tobacco portion of your order. All hookah companies will be doing this soon, if they already aren't. If you really want to avoid paying all of these stupid taxes, leave Canada. Sonthert
Not me, I just pay federal taxes, 27 times a year (The 27th period is due to the Uruguayan Round Act). Also, 12 monthly reports and 12 State of California Tax returns...plus how many ever states I get into. I actually pay the taxes upfront for most of these guys. straussstrauss
Thanks Tangiers, thats explains it all. Actualy I am trying to buy your bowl and thats why I didnt understand why I should pay 27 dollars for it (10$ for the bowl + 16$ bucks tax) plus another 13$ shipping total comes to 40$ US. Thats a lot for a bowl althought I am more than sure its an exelent quality. I would gladly buy it from you (I would even prefer that but you are not answering my PMs

Sonthert
I am not answering your PMs? That dosn't sound like me! I have alot of plates twirling, so I have to charge alot for individual orders, otherwise I'd be doing head orders only. Trust me, my heads are worth $40. Go to a ceramics store or show and compare something thats about the same size and find out hopw much they are sold for!
