BLUE&GOLD
Well the rim of my small tangiers phunnel bowl has poop building around it.I'm guessing it's little pieces of burnt shisha that got stuck on it real good, and whenever I use my finger nails to chip at it, little particles would come off.The rim is a bit duller than the bottom of the bowl and the external of the bowl itselfand my phunnel bowl always seems to have a bit of funky/burnt tobaccoish smell to it. Would taking sand-paper to it help/hurt it at all? I normally wash my bowl with water, but i heard lemon-juice/vinegar and possibly soap would take the smell out?Been thinkin' about getting a new Tangiers phunnel just for the heck of making a collectionBuying hookahs are addicting... liquidglass
Personally I would not recommend it. I would say a magic eraser, or just a scrubbing pad for dishes, gets mine right as rain every time.

smokeytheclown
Make a paste of baking soda and water, scrub with a scrub pad, and wash with soap and water. Cleans and deoderizes at the same time.

delSol_si
Well, I used a green scotch type of pad on mine that we had around the restaurant and it worked fine. Not sure exactly what they are called, its green, about 1/4" thick, comes in a pack of about 6-8 sheets that are like 4-5"x5-6" I am guessing. I cut then in half to use. It feels like one of those scotch dish sponges except a bit rougher. I use this on a Tangiers small phunnel though, not sure how a chinese will hold up to it.Edit: the only reason I suggest this over the Magic Eraser deal is that its cheaper, and I am a cheap ass. Got mine free, but I am assuming that in the store the green thing will be cheaper, especially since you have to pay for the brand name when buying the Eraser thing. Voski
Get a pan and fill it with water and then dump a lot of baking soda in it. Throw the phunnel bowl in the pan and let the water start to boil. Boil it for a few minutes then grab the phunnel and scrub it and everything should come off.

I have not yet done it with my Tangiers phunnel. I have also used the baking soda and (tooth)brush technique with pretty good success. Its odd how out of 3 T. Phunnels and my MNH glass, its only 1 T and the glass that get this brown crap on them. Other 2 T phunnels come clean as a whistle with next to no effort. Just scrub with hot water and you'll get all of that stuff off. Just make sure if you keep them in the kitchen that anybody who lives with you knows they are not for food cleaning! BLUE&GOLD
i actually ended up using the edge of a metal ruler to scrape off the poop and it worked.Didn't seem to damage the bowl in any way either. It got rid of alot of the smell too.I'll probably try boiling the bowl in baking soda next to make it even cleaner. Thanks for the help guys

Those are what I was talking about. Thanks.I really don't think scraping your bowl with a metal object of any type is a good idea. Even if it doesn't break when you do it, you are really putting a lot of stress on it so it probably won't last as long, but its your bowl so do what you want.
