Hello From Louisiana

Recommended Posts

Hello, i am a convert to the Hookah that lives in North Louisiana ... been smoking a pipe for about 10 years now ... but wanted something with a cooler smoke and a bit more flavor to it ... so took a chance with buying a real small hookah at a local shop (barely 8" tall with a short hose) ...

now i like it, and am in the process of finding a better setup ... and possibly getting rid of some of my pipes as well ...

in my area about the only thing i can find is the 'herbal' blends for the hookah ... so i have taken them and mixed it about half and half with my pipe tobacco with great results ...

well time to go back to browsing the forums... and figure out what i want to get for normal use...

Hello and welcome to the forum

I would highly advise ordering off the internet if all you can find is herbal shisha...that stuff is bleh...
For tobacco shisha, give Al Fakher and Nakhla a try for the more traditional...others to keep in mind that are excellent are Starbuzz, Fantasia, and Tangiers(a really tough on to master, but one of the best)
If you want something more along the pipe tobacco line, give Jewel a try...almost everyone here will advise against it, but its not that bad, its made with cigar tobacco and you can still taste the tobacco when smoking.

I would also recommend upgrading your pipe eventually...I have an idea of the one you are using...
check out sites like http://www.mnhookah.com http://www.hookahjohn.com http://www.hookahcompany.com http://www.hookah-shisha.com to name a few...you'll find plenty of pipes, accessories, and shisha on those sites. Also, search around the forum and you will find discount codes for these websites

p.s. please read the forum rules

thanks for the recommendations ... i am already planning on upgrading my pipe to something a bit bigger with a longer hose ... have already been looking through most of the sites you recommended seeing what they have and such ... will likely order in the next week...

i think one local place has Starbuzz ... been a while since i been to that location though so not sure on their prices .. may try to check them out this week and see... i am sure most all of them are better then the herbal stuff (Soex is mostly all that can be found) ... but it ended up not being real bad after mixing with my normal tobacco ... Starbuzz is a great smoke, but way over priced
...another great smoke that isn't as bad on your wallet is Tangiers...it takes time, but you being an experienced pipe smoker, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it in no time.
For pipes, I'm a big fan of Egyptians...the top two for those are Khalil Mamoon and Magdy Zidan brands. Then Myas(Chinese factory made) are another great brand to work with...they as well are highly endorsed here. For beauty, check out the Syrians, they have some beautiful craftsmanship in them.
And hoses...you dont to go with the one that comes with the hookah...they are universal. I'd recommend looking into a washable hose...some flavors "ghost" in the hose, that is, they get stuck in the hose for a while, like rose and cappuccino. Two off the top of my head are razan and nammor.

nice, what flavor of Al Fakher?

QT is a solid pipe, I've smoked outta them many times, they are great for a smaller pipe

Strawberry
Cafe Latte
Honey

stopped by the place in town that carries the starbuzz .. they want almost 20$ for a small container of it .. i just laughed a bit and left ...

one other shop i haven't gone into yet in my town that carries some stuff, not really wanting to go in there ... it is monitored a bit by the local law enforcement ... and i don't want my name on a list.
