How often do you smoke? and...

How often do you guys smoke hookah?  And also, what are some of
the negetive physical consequences it has had on you?  (i know
this is every hookah-fan's most disliked subject, but i think its
important)


I smoke ~ once or twice a week.  Only on weekends
usually. I kind of made hookah-smoking a weekend thing so
that i am not in danger of becoming nicotine addicted.  With the 6
or more days between hookah sessions, the nicotine has a chance to
leave my body, which means i am at little danger of becoming physically
addicted to nicotine.

My cardio shape is not so good
I get winded pretty easily, however that is not completely due to the
hookah.  I lift weights regularly, but do not jog or work on my
cardiovascular endurence.  Thus my (somewhat bulky in proportion
to my size) 140lb frame which rests on my 5'5" body isn't the most
suited to running.  I can sprint pretty well if need be. 
(catching a bus, running from a$$whoopings, running TO do a$$whooping
of my own)  but after cardio movement, i need to catch my breath
for the next 4 minutes or so.

I think that i am going to start jogging. So that i do not feel so guilty about enjoying a smoke session.

fitness questions, you can go ahead and ask me, i know quite a bit
about weight training)

Same here, I couldn't care less about the "buzz" (hurr! OMG I WAS SO
BUZZED IT ROCT!)  I just like the flavor and the pleasure of
blowing thick velvetty smoke.  It is relaxing, dont get me wrong,
but if there was no "buzz" whatsoever, i would still do it.


Do you have any trouble running tjt?

Meh, I smoke 2-3 times per day But I haven't noticed anything detrimental to my endurance occuring. But I do play butt-tons of racquetball. Its big at my school.. But yeah, I get into the courts on avg. about 4-5 times per week, anywhere from 1-2 hours each time, and I've been able to keep my stamina and endurance high.I also started dieting in addition to my running, and have lost 25lbs, so even though hookah may be hurting my body, I'm atleast doing something good for my body as well. To sort of even things out and make me feel better about my serious addiction to hookah

The most ironic thing happened. 

After i posted this thread, i went out with my friends.  One of
the idiots that we met up with was carrying around, in plain site, a
bottle of whisky and a 12 pack. (we were headed for a party)  Long
story short, I wound up having to run from the police and hide in
shrubs for about and hour.  I conclude that when i need to move, i
can.

PS.  it was terrifying.  I hate the prospect of getting in
trouble.  Make no mistake, i am no tough-guy pretending to be a
bada$$ on the internet.  I was scared sh*tless.

Im in school now so i smoke once a week if im lucky because the weather
is usually verryy cold in upstate NY and forced to smoke outside. Back
home I would smoke about 7-10 bowls a day everyday. After smoking like
that for a couple years I had the typical smoking symptoms- couldnt run
or walk far, got tired very easily. I would constantly be pheening for
hookah. I would go some place and everywhere i went was missing my
hookah haha. So every party i would goto or event that i knew i would
be at for a long time the hookah went right with me. They even started
calling me the caterpillar because in almost every picture taken of me
at parties, festivals, etc.. there i was puffing on my hookah haha. Got
to the point where an entire weekend without my hookah was
unthinkable.  Ive got a few arab friends i smoke narghile with and
they think im a total idiot because they say you should only smoke
shisha 2-3 times a week at the most and that is considered excessive in
there country. But guess what....im not in there country.
  Haha stay safe man the less you smoke the better it will be for
you. Remember that one bowl of shisha to yourself is the equivalent of
smoking a pack of cigarettes.

Does anybody have any evidence that proves Caterpillar wrong?

[/quote]I do but its 6am and I have yet to go to bed, so I will encourage you to search google for "research nargile" or "research hookah" Let me explainThere are different kinds of tobaccos, two are most well known; shisha and tömbeki. Shisha is made of tobacco, glicerine, fruit molases and its much less dangerous to health because almost 70% of the shisha you are smoking is glicerine and molases. Shisha is also made from low nicotine tobacco leaves. The second kind of tobacco is tömbeki which is seriously dangerous to health. You do not use aluminium foil and you prepare your own tömbeki from huge leaves. Its very hard on lungs and it has a real STRONG buzz even smoking tömbeki is not as dangerous as smoking cigarettes.Oh, for me... I smoke between 5 to 20 bowl per day for three years. I have some problems such as having problem with physical endurance but I have stopped riding bike two years ago and to be honest with riding exercises those negative effects are dropped to much lower levels. I still do not encourage smoking that much and I do not encourage smoking any kind of tobacco products in the end.After all, its your choice, your life, your health. Treat it as you please...

i only smoke 1-3 times a week... it doenst seem to affect me much. i lift 3 times a week, i do muai thai(kick boxing) 2 times a week, and play bsaketball and golf on a regular basis. im kinda concerened i sometimes have urges to smoke but i try and fight that off.

Actually, based on Tangiers tobacco, a bowl of tobacco has the nicotine of approximately 30 cigarettes. I have, empirically, noted that smoking hookah, even for long periods, on a regualr basis, doesn;t have the apparent residula effects on the lungs. Cigarette smokers seem to cough and hack and be miserable more.
