SilverK
I'm no math genius, so reading the labels on different brands of shisha has confused me. Starbuzz's labels say the nicotine is .05% while Fantasia's labels (and others) say the nicotine is .5%. I don't get it. Is there REALLY such a vast difference between different brands, or am I missing a simple math computation that means the nicotine levels are equal but just written differently on the labels? If the numbers are right, then obviously some brands have A LOT more nicotine right? That'd just be bizarre...especially since I don't get a hugely different buzz when smoking different brands. Bye bye now have fun
how is .45% alot more? it sounds like a lot when you say it has 10x
Zinite
QUOTE (GNUWorldOrder @ May 17 2009, 07:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>how is .45% alot more? it sounds like a lot when you say it has 10xPercentage is irrelevant depending on how potent said ingredient is. The difference between the .05% and the .5% nicotine content is washed tobacco vs unwashed tobacco.
liquidglass
Well it is an odd observation since fantasia is "supposedly" washed
Bye bye now have fun
a % is a % no matter what the context is. .45% more of 1000000 is still 4500 be it dollars or micrograms of poison. now if it was 5% or 50% we are talking a big difference
delSol_si
Ya I was moving out of the dorms and was throwing a lot of shit away. I was looking as some empty boxes of shisha and noticed the same thing. I noticed AF was %0.05 and Layalina was %0.50, didn't really thing much of it though, nicotine doesn't matter much to me, I smoke the the sake of smoking and because it is fun, not for the nicotine, though herbal sucks. Scalliwag
I can smoke a lot more washed than unwashed. Except when I'm a little drunk and then I can't tell as much. But if I'm working on something and smoking I smoke my Starbuzz. I could do without the buzz.

But I don't really see why nicotine percentages are so important. I didn't notice. It just seems too negligible.
ToncSTAR
i notice the buzz everytime i smoke tangiers..but with every other flavor i get almost nothing, except for af, which is washed. sometimes the buzz from af is almost as strong as tangiers for me. Sonthert
Yeah, both numbers are in question. Tangiers is between .3 and .4%, depending on the tobacco I'm using, assuming none is lost in the cooking process. The .05% number is probably closer to 0, the .5% is probably .2% or so. It is the difference between washing the tobacco and not, as somebody else said further up. Some manufacturers add components that aren't approved for use in foods or for human consumption which artificially add to the buzz, whether its nicotine or not. Tangiers, in respects, doesn't have anything added to the tobacco that isn't approved by the FDA for food usage and human consumption.
