Lukasa
Tangiers- how much caffeine is actually absorbed into the bloodstream after smoking... say an average bowl of this shisha? Are we talking equivalent of a cup of coffee? way more?
djnick
==================================== Tangiers – Caffeine Chocolate (insert prototype name here) ==================================== Setup: MYA Acrylic Base – 3 Hose. 2 Hoses pluged for testing purposes. Using Tangiers bowl. tap water, no ice. Using Noor Finger coals. 100 holes poked using oyster fork Tightly packed bowl, as described in Tangiers Technical Note Thread Appearance: Very different from AF, Nakhla, Starbuzz, and even fumari. Its not a thin cut, its pretty good pieces, dark looking, u can tell its serious stuff. Did not notice any stems or foreign materials. Medium wetness on the flavor, its not super sticky icky drip all over the place on your rag type sticky, it’s a nice clean wet tobacco. Smell: Lets just say Mr Tangiers made the flavor right in front of me, and before I could even step outside of the lounge smelled like chocolate, very rich nice chocolate smell, I wish godiva was open at 3am so I can have some chocolate with this. Taste: Very very very tasty. I must say you absolutely taste the flavor. Even while your sucking in, and the most when your exhaling. However the taste was a little on the cappuccino side, and not the chocolate choclately side. However still very good. I would however recommend mixing it with a mint or something, just to give a little different taste, as after about an hour or more you get a little tired of the chocolate, like a fat kid that had waaaay to many snickers bars. Buzz: Since this is the caffeine blend, your probably asking so what’s it due? I would have to tell you that the buzz on this is pretty strong, at least for me. I couldn’t tell if it was from the caffeine side or just the tobacco itself, but we were able to smoke half as much because we were so light headed. At about 4am when I headed to bed took me about another hour to be able to fall asleep, im guessing that the caffeine part, but this stuff doesn’t mess around. Density: Nice smoke, not huge white fluffy clouds, then again this was my first time using a Tangiers bowl, so it might take me a few tries to get the heat down, but after watching mr tangiers do it himself I think I got a pretty good idea. Nice good smoke, blew plenty of solid O’s. After 2 hours of smoking bowl was still going, very cool. Summary: This is some good flavor that packs a punch, im very interested in trying the other caffeine flavors and seeing how this tobacco will affect the sisha world. I would say Eric has this right on the money; probably some minor adjustments could make this thing even more killer. If you’re looking for a nice chocolate/cappuccino taste that’s very flavorful and gives u a good buzz, defiantly recommend this. My recommendation would be to mix in some Tangiers Mint, so give a nice chocomint taste, I actually have some mint extract that I will be planning to mix in on the next bowl so I will comment on that. All in all a solid 9.5/10 for this flavor. Everyone hookah smokers needs to try this line once in there life, its pretty amazing stuff. -DJNiCK

[LB]
its funny how you get more smoke with less coals from tangiers- remember that djnick!
zzzzzT
I am really excited to try this "new line" of tobacco. My favorite smoke is tangiers cocoa. So I imagine the chocolate will be fantastic. I would not really mind a nice kick from some caffine.
tjt486
How big is an oyster fork? Im going to give tangiers a couple more shots myself to figure out the correct formula to stop from burning my throat/lungs, then Im going to give the man himself a call and see if we can't figure out what Im doing wrong. Also it getting harsh does not means its bad, sometimes its harsh and u have to wait a little until it evens out in the bowl then it will hit evenly. I used the noor finger coals, i also have natural bulk coals and three kings as well but i prefer the noor. Took a while to get it going, but was still good. As far as the oyster fork, the one eric gave me is a small fork but the ends are wider than a normal fork so the holes are poked bigger which is what he recommends. About 100 holes using a tangiers bowl with 4 coals, one in each corner
tjt486
Did you smoke it at his place or you took it home with you?Damn, 4 coals? Maybe eric can chime in, is this correct for the 'small' bowl you sent me? 2 coals seems like too much, a very fresh coal works fine but not enough heat when it burns down. Im using the abu hithan coals you reccomended to me.Heavy duty foil or light foil?hmmmmm. Ive been smoking AF lately because its a more consistent smoke for me, im sure its my fault though. It still hit perfectly. When i got home i smoked the chocolate which I just used regular foil, dont think it matters. Used a tangiers bowl as said, but since i didnt have abu coals i used noor ones. tjt486
maybe he was using the 'jumbo' bowl he told me about, I know he said it had some absurd capacity?
djnick
jumbo bowl i cool, but its useful for long sessions, for an hour to two hour session i stick to my regular bowls.some updates:1. the chocolate taste stays in the hookah even if you wash it. i washed the hoses base, stem everything with warm water and cleaned it with the squeegy and it still tasted had some chocolate taste left over in it.2. the tangiers technical note: i would say its not essential that you pack more in the bowl, as a matter of fact i decided to pack the mint like i pack any AF bowl, lightly to the brim, and it smoked magnificently without any harshness or problems3. bulk natural coals are the best damn coals ever made. Take a while to light but then give off no taste, lasssst forever and hardly ash. Used a same set of coals for about 45 min before even ashing it or adding another piece. Far better than the noor coals, and three kings
tjt486
where did you get the bulk coals from? I was thinking about placing an order for pack of 3 social smoke olive wood coals.
Sonthert
Great review, Nick. Come by for your free bribe-er I mean stuff I promised you for the nice review...yah, that's right, the stuff that I wanted to give you for recommending my product to everybody. Shoot!Hi Greg! Caffeine and fruit flavors...apricot, peach can;t tolerate it...it seems to work better with herbal or very sweet flavors...I wasthinking it might work with citrus flavors too...Yeah, Nick, I told you about Greg when you were down...you guys should kick it...smoke Tangiers...invite some ladies! Party naked, make the bunny hump dance...you know. With the girls, not with only guys! Gay!TJT...is the smoke thin and harsh? Try packing more in the bowl. tjt486
Yes thin and harsh. I tried packing the bowl tonight with the same problem. The closest I can get to overcoming it is to use just 1 coal, barely smokes at all but isnt TOO harsh to handle.
djnick
that is very wierd, i am not having those sorts of problems. I am using a regular sized bowl with screen packing it normally and using the natural coals and it hits fine. Maybe try poking more holes in your foil? put coals in 4 corners of the bowl, might take 5 min to get going and it might be harsh at first, but once the bowl is properly heated evenly it should hit fine. Mr Tangiers will know better himself, but this is my experience after smoking 6 bowls of his stuff
tjt486
Oh ive got PLENTY of holes in the foil.
Sonthert
Try less tobacco then...if you add too much and have a real tight draw, you add extra coal to get more smoke and end up scorching it...alternatively, make sure there are gaps in the center and between the foil and the tobacco.
