Time For A Fresh Start - Looking For Some Suggestions

Recommended Posts

So here's my story. Once upon a time, I was a hookah master. I could coax thick, fluffy white clouds and a killer buzz out of anything, and I never burned a bowl. Somewhere along the line though, I lost my touch. My smokes are thin and not so flavorful, and clouds less than thick and fluffy. Half the time I burn the shisha. And it's just not working for me.

However, now I'm out of supplies. I need new coals and shisha. But I've been away from the community for so long that I really haven't been following up on the new things that have been released in the past few years and what people are really liking. So, if there are any new accessories, I'm game for those too.

I have a Mya hookah, 26" with blue glass base, a Nammor hose, and the regular Mya bowl.

One thing: I travel a lot, so portability is a must. That means I'm looking at quicklite coals, and shisha like Tangiers that needs to be acclimated wouldn't work for me.

Well, I'll always stand by Nakhla, cheap with intense flavor and buzz. AF has had some quality issues for me but the stuff that's good I really enjoy. If you're not up on them you should really get a Tangiers phunnel bowl (small, the mediums and up are huge). Hookahjohn.com has some coconut QLs that are pretty damn good so far as QLs are concerned. I still use 3K for my QLs though, I think they're A-ok.

And welcome back smile.gif

I've traveled with Tangiers...news of the acclimation issue is way overblown, try it and see if it works for you.

More to the point, why have your sessions failed? I've noticed a lot of brands that have been around for awhile have seemed to have gotten cheaper with glycerine...maybe your over coalling?

I've honestly felt like the more I get into it the worse my smoke gets. Hookah is an art, and when you start to look at it like a science you have issues (at least I have seemed to). I have tried to return to my roots.

Yeah, my theory is, if there's something fundamentally wrong with what you're doing, new equipment isn't going to help...is it? We work the problem first, then get you new equipment.

Forgot to mention, you may not know that Tangiers has a line that usually doesn't need as much if any acclimation now, it's a washed line called "lucid" that comes in many of the normal Tangiers flavors.

i wouldn't say "many" if you're ordering online...if you go to the lounge, that's a different story smile.gif
