my acrylic base is cracking

get some ceramic powder and mixter, coat your base with that mixture cook it for 30 minutes in oven wait it cool down now you have a ceramic base and leaking shall stop. =)

nah i've had several nice glass pieces from morocco and tunisia and pakistan and i always break them... i like the arcylic.

They say acrylic aquariums are supposed to be 20x stronger (orso) than glass.  Ive had a 5 gallon acryllic snap down the side and my glass tanks are all still solid.I dont know what that really has to do with anything, but Ill be willing to bet mya would help you out somehow.

good stuff. thanks for the help guys.  i looked in a few sites and i could only find glass ones, no replacements for the arylics... and i just saw they're located in sterling.  i'm there every week :D

Not a structural engineer, but, there are different types of strength...concrete and steel are veery strong, but in different ways...concrete will sheer, but won't bend, while steel bends but won't sheer. Those plastic bags from the grocery store are supposed to hold 75 lbs., but anybody who knows double bags their gallon of milk.
