Why Km?

What is so great about a KM hookah? I can't figure it out. My friend bought one a week or so ago and we smoked it. My 24" Egyptian gets better hits than that thing. And the hose is just over kill, it clears the base every time so the smoke doesn't get time to build up and the smoke isn't as think as from Myas, Syrians, or other Egyptians. Everyone talks about this signature KM pull, but what does that mean? You get more air than smoke?

on this forum, the majority of people tend to shop online instead of locally - at least for pipes. Due to the nature of online purchasing, you cannot emperically 'know' what you are buying. without being able to physically handle the pipe and feel the weight of it et cetera, how can you know that what you're spending your money on is a quality pipe? people on this forum have come to know that when you buy a KM, you aren't buying a piece of shit; you know what you're buying: a traditional chamber pipe with wide ports and usually a very sturdy construction. personally, i've had a few pipes completely just shit out on me because of shoddy construction; i've had pipes smoke poorly because small port size and ID size. with a KM you're gaurenteed a pipe that will no question smoke well straight out of the box without any tweaking and fooling around with it.

short answer: they're good pipes. they smoke well.

Sounds to me like you have power lungs, or your bowl isnt packed right. When any KM I've smoked out of (trimetal, exotica, 36in ice), the smoke has been so thick, clearing the base of smoke would be impossible.

2nd, you are def doing something wrong if you aren't getting ... easy ... massive clouds from a KM. Should be able to take 3 second hits and get pretty monster clouds.

Yea iv had my base get almost cleared out and i would still get huge clouds. Could be coal problems?

Threads like this make my decision so much more difficult than it should be with such conflicting opinions, but after reading tons, and I mean TONS of threads about various brands, I think I finally decided on a MZ. It will most likely be a 36" Double Pear from hookahjohn and I'll put it off until this weekend, so I can get some free coals too. Currently I use my brothers 24" Mya, and besides a 12" pumpkin my friend owns, it is the only hookah I've even smoked with though, which doesn't help things for deciding.

Most of the downsides to MZs I've read about have been things like occasional uneven bases, and things that often occur in KMs and any other hand made pipe. From what I've read, MZ stems are often lighter, but just as sturdy as a KM, and they are much cheaper. Also, due to the metals KMs are made from, they are more difficult to polish and keep looking nice than a MZ. KMs are supposed to have a draw as easy as breathing, and MZs are said to have a little more resistance, but I don't think that is a bad thing either. Basically overall I would say KMs and MZs are likely very equal hookahs, but MZs are cheaper and also come with a worse hose I suppose.

Hopefully more people will chime in on why they think KMs are so great who actually own them though, because I do not, as I said. Edited May 20, 2009 by UnwiseZebra

(I enjoy my KMs, no names, and Mya all pretty much equally for different reasons although if I only could keep one pipe it would be one o the KMs for all the reasons always mentioned)

Why not nour? lol... Anyways I'm with stuie and mush... why not mya? Their stuff is quality and doubles as weapons ( for a fun evening take a mya mini stem and hit someone over the head with it... you are given a point for each whole minute the person is uncontentious... highest score wins!)

I always was one to say they don't ghost, but lately i have been smoking really strong flavors out of my qt, and can't get the smell out of the hookah for the life of me. I even boiled it for 30 min ... and it still smells like the flavor. And i wash it after every session.

With my km ... i scrub the pipe for 30 seconds ... and it smells like nothing.

also, people underestimate the noname hookahs. there are some pretty good ones out there, my best hookah is an all brass pipe from some unknown brand

Seriously, you know yourself that you cannot call that beautiful hookah a no-name, it just doesnt fit in that category. We should come up with a new word for quality-no-name-hooakhs.No-name has too much of a negative sound too it to be used like this.

i enjoy the km because its hand made and each one is just a little different than the other. makes me happy, so buy what makes you happy not a brand name or anything like that

i don`t find that ugly at all, pretty cool actually. you don`t see that very often (the little light thingy in the middle of the stem) except for on those massive sultan hookahs.

ryne i know your not talking about the km i just got in because that thing is amazing....when we smoked the funnel that first time come on man we got massive hits and massive clouds.... the pull is insanely easy and idk what your talking about with smoke build up man because we never had a problem with that... and the hose...yea its alittle overkill its wide as all hell but its not washable (go nammor) and dude as for thinkness of the smoke im sure we can smoke some different brands and get massive clouds because me and brian have smoked it alot and gotten awesome seshions


p.s. nothing against mya (loved my qt and my buddies mya owns) and nothing against syrian ( my syrian is amazing best purchase i have ever made... its a 2 hose and it dominates in every aspect.) Edited May 21, 2009 by Nikon1323
