I know this is an old thread, but was browsing and saw this.
I have one of these things, and believe it or not it smokes pretty well. It's not a hobo or any of the others (I am a proud owner of a hobonarghile, get one if you can...got on that waiting list, sent one to a friend for Xmas also...)
...but when I went on a portable hookah kick this thing definitely did better than the witch hookah I also tried. There is little or no danger of coals getting on you, and while the top does get pretty warm, it doesn't really get *hot* either. There is a bowl inside with its own lid that screws into the base. The thing is nearly indestructible (why I bought one) the coals don't spill, and you are separated from the heat.
Yes you can walk around with it and smoke. I wouldn't run (I think it would break the coals...) but I'm not in an exercise state of mind when I smoke anyway.
It's probably good for around 30 minutes or so, and because it has a smallish bowl inside the regular coals are a bit large and need to be broken in half (or use Japanese coals)
hth.

The second picture on the right hand side of the product made me LOL, If I saw someone who has that around his belt I would run up to him and knock of his coal and say "get a KM noob"

Would a Phunnel bowl work on this little contraction?

1) Good luck knocking off the coal-it's not going anywhere on this thing....*look closer at the picture-the lid closes and holds the coal in* not to mention hopefully you know me before trying such a thing, wouldn't want me to take it the wrong way...call me a noob if you like however. I've only been smoking hookahs around 7 years. Plenty of people have smoked longer.

2) No joy with the phunnel bowl...the bowl on the thing is actually threaded on the bottom and screws in. If I had time to mess with the thing (I don't smoke as much as I used to, there's a baby in our house and I cannot smoke here now) I might try making one that fit, but the bowl is pretty small to fit in the upper casing-

doubt a decent one would fit even if one were to install a threaded adapter. To me this would be a waste. These aren't meant to be your primary hookah anymore than the Leila, the Witch, or the Hobo are; it's a road trip hookah for places you wouldn't want to take your KM or what have you.

3) Similar idea to the Leila-but about 1/3 the price, and, ummm, no plastic. Self contained. Doesn't need a wine bottle. Doesn't need a cupholder. Doesn't break. Not even the bowl...since it cannot fall off.

Don't knock it unless you've tried it. It's worth the 35 bucks. Easily; especially if you actually go places and do things, and like the idea of a hookah that will survive the trip. If you're like me you've spent more than that on tobacco.

Who's a noob?

I have one of these... yeh I bought it mainly for the novelty of and in case we went out on a road trip.

I found this thing extremely sturdy.. and NO the cover does not get hot. It gets warm but not enough to burn you at all.

I've used it once just to test it out.. walked around the house with it strapped on to see how it really performed and I have to admit it is actually quite good for what it's MADE to do (not be a large floor standing hookah for normal use but something safe and very portable.)

That's about the the stupidest hookah related item I've seen in quite some time.
You're missing the point. When I started smoking hookah, ANY hookah related item was either "stupid" or worse, was considered "NHT or NH devices" by the uninitiated, hopefully not law enforcement. I brought several home from Iraq in 2003, and thankfully got not much more than a few raised eyebrows. I claimed every single one on a customs form and crossed my fingers. Others in my group were not so lucky and had their prizes confiscated....

Today, because of us old folks who tried something new (for Americans, anyway) it is less likely you will have to endure the same.

Most of my hookahs are old. Not this one; and I like it.

Let it be. If you have one and it's a POS...then let the world know. Otherwise...criticizing it for looking odd puts you in that same category of people who ask you if you are an NHT user when they see your hookah.
So go ahead and call this thing weird....then go buy the most modern interpretation of a hookah you can, with precision engineered seals, modern tubing, and high quality glass...so long as it's not made out of metal. Would it help if the metal hookah had a pretty pattern painted on it?
Why not go back to smoking a hookah made from a coconut, some clay, and some reeds....if you want to be a purist. It's obvious you've never tried one of these, probably haven't seen one, and therefore have no idea.
Ridiculous.

the thing works. That's good enough for me.

No portable/travel hookah looks exactly like a traditional sit-at-home hookah. A Leila, after all, has an uncanny resemblance to a big-gulp from 7-11...and yet it is well received. Likewise the witch (which unlike the similar hobohookah, is worth EXACTLY what you pay for it, the less the better IMHO) is made in the same factory as condoms and car parts, if the smell is any clue....
No such problems with the metal hookah. The coal stays on the tobacco, does not spill, the hookah is portable and smokes well. Edited by delSol_si

I really dont see the point of this. I mean if you really cant wait till you get home then you might have a bit of a problem... if your on a road trip then stop at a rest stop and smoke some hookah enjoy the scenery around youl. thats just my opinion.

Oh if that were all I had to worry about. Why does anyone care if I or anyone else likes a portable, unbreakable hookah or not?
Why do people buy Leila's....don't see anyone telling THEM to stop at a rest area. So what gives. Oh I see. Is it the price? so, if I lowered the quality of this hookah and doubled the price, called it a "Leila" and claimed it fits cupholders (so long as the cupholder can also accommodate a 2QT Tea pitcher) it would then be ok?

I will say it made a trip safely that destroyed 3 less durable (yet more "traditional") hookahs.

If you can afford to buy 2 hookahs every time you take a trip for a few weeks (1 as a spare!) to a location that has no such thing around, and not be left wanting for space, then my hat's off to you.

For some of us road trips do not include rest areas, and if we take something, it had better fit into a pack with everything else.

The thing works, it doesn't break. It isn't "ridiculous" or a "POS". For those look under "Witch hookah". Which, unfortunately, I also have and can attest to.

And if you're worried about your health or mine....consider that NO hookah smoking is considered healthy; telling me I shouldn't smoke on the road (what if I am not allowed to smoke the hookah anywhere else) is like telling a diabetic not to load up on sugar except at night.

Ok buddy, you need to calm down, and here is my response:

A. I am not missing anything, trust me. I've been smoking for well over 8 years.

B. Good for you, just because you like it does not mean that everyone else should too.

C. ...You have got to be joking. Have you heard of something called 'opinion'? Everyone has one and just because you disagree with them, does not "put me in that same category of people who ask you if you are an NHT user when they see your hookah"

D. Lmao, wow man, now it seems as if you have something personal against me. Lay off the pipe kid, I will smoke whatever it is that I want to smoke, you go ahead and smoke whatever it is you want to smoke. You want to burn your ass carrying that thing looking like a complete tool in down town? FEEL FREE! I will not hold you back. I will laugh at you but I won't tell you its the wrong thing to do.

Ok, I am just going to stop, you either need some sleep or perhaps I did something to you in the past to get such a worked up reaction over what I said, which STILL remains an opinion.

What ever it may be, you need to realx and maybe get a message with a happy ending.

I still stand by something that I'd like to call opinion, which states that this hookah just looks stupid.

Feel free to smoke and burn your pants, I won't be running trying to put the fire out because I will be too busy laughing my ass off.

Are we done here? or you have another essay you want to write about how my opinion is wrong and how yours is right?

PS: Remember one VERY important thing: You are new on the forums, and you don't know me. My standards are extremely high when it comes down to hookahs. I have mastered every single thing about hookahs and broke them down in ways that would make your head spin. And this item is WELL below what my standards require. Edited by delSol_si
