Found A Place That Sells Tangiers Locally!

Does anybody know of where to pick up Tangiers anywhere in Maricopa County? The 70's Shop and Hookah Lounge carries it but for too much (cool owner but expensive).

That 70's Shop only has 4 flavors, and they're only the "regular" line. He doesn't carry Lucid or F-line. He's charging nearly double the online price. Way too rich for my blood! BUT it's good to know that it's at least HERE locally, if one was desperate enough to pay that much for it.

Eric is there ANY way that someone like me, here in Phoenix, could do anything to get it stocked locally at a better price?

I tried to get the owner of Smoke N Go (no longer a business unfortunately) to carry his line and after receiving the samples, he decided against it because his regulars were used to the non-buzz of Fumari. The only way for Tangiers to be here locally at a decent price is for us to talk to the owners of local lounges and have them order directly from Eric.

But yeah, $26 is just way too much for me. Until it's carry locally, I will continue to order through hookah-shisha's triple Tangiers pack.

He banked on Fumari and he's not in business anymore? Huh.

Here's another option. You guys organize a Tangiers grange and get monthly orders together and get someone to drive out here and get it...you'll save $3/250g...multiply that by 40x250g and you just paid for gas and hotel room. Savings on 500g and 1000g are even larger. The savings on a Kg of one flavor is $26. If you want to organize it, I'll package it up for free, the prices I quoted are for loose tub sales...packaging is about $4/Kg normally.

He can sell it at any price he wants to. Its not unusual for shops like that to mark stuff up 200%, he buys it for $8, sells it for $24. Let me guess...the store is in a strip mall?

As far as the taxes go, there is a distinct difference between buying online and buying at a "mom and pop" retailer.

If the wholesale price is $8 on 250g, you have to take into consideration about $2.50 for shipping it to the guy in the first place (1kg flat rate is $10), and he has to pay taxes on that purchase. In the state of Arizona, the tobacco tax for shisha is at $0.223 per ounce of tobacco. There are approximately 8.82 ounces in a 250g package of tobacco. That puts the total up to about $12.47 before he even tries to make a profit on the sale. If the retailer buys in small quantities and doesn't do a lot of sales, he'll obviously have to pay more for the tobacco and for the shipping, so it would behoove him to mark up his product AT LEAST 40-60%-80% to make it worth his while to carry it... That means an additional $4.99-$7.48-$9.98 so that means. Your $8 wholesale tobacco is now up to $17.46/$19.95/$22.45 Next, the end user has to pay tobacco tax AGAIN, adding another $1.97 to the purchase. After you pay the state its tobacco tax, you're up to $19.43/$21.92/$24.42... Here's where he can play with the numbers a bit to make them nice and round... say $19/$22/$24...all for a measly $8 worth of tobacco... BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!!!

Factor in sales tax for the state of Arizona...That's at 5.6%... If you're in Maricopa County, add another .7%... If you live in a city in Maricopa County, you'll have to add upwards of an additional 3% in city sales tax... The highest being Youngstown at 3% more... So that's a total of 9.3% in sales tax... That means your paying $20.77/$24.05/$26.23... of which $5-$10 goes back to the retailer who sold it, $10.50 goes to buy more product, and the rest goes to the state...

FINALLY someone that realizes that there is a reason people charge what they charge. I dont know how many times people come in and say wow i can get it for this much online. Each state is different so prices are different then add shipping to the lounge on top of that and the fact theres no HF discount and then add that the lounge has to make money to stay open. Its GONNA be more then online, we sell our tang for 20$ for a 250, Its easy for online vendors to charge less because they dont have to pay as much rent to keep the warehouse open as a lounge and there employee taxes are lowers since they dont need as many.

26 isnt really bad at all i just went to hookahjohn and a 250 is 14.95 + 10 shipping to me (colorado) so its 24.95 shipped. Keep in mind thats with out a discount, but buying it at the lounge you dont have to wait for shipping.

Canon YES its going to be cheaper when you order in larger amount because it lessens the overall cost of shipping to you. Thats why everyone saves for orders and orders a larger amount. Im not saying people shouldnt order online. Im just saying theres a REASON lounges have to charge more then online. For someone that is thinking about opening a lounge I would think you would understand that. If you try and open your lounge and charge online prices more then likely you will struggle.

You should be happy. Where I live during school, Layalina, Soex, Jewel and crappy flavored Nakhla are the only baccy I can find, and VERY limited selection of any. I moved in with my parents for the summer to a whole new town. Had a gal I met at college show me around town and the only baccy I could find was Layalina and Havana if I remember correctly. I also have yet to find a lounge.

I wont be happy until we have Tangiers for sale loccaly here in the valley... even if I had to drive all the way to the west side!

i understand the concept, i just dont agree with you trying to say that you arent really saving when you buy online. what i was stating was that i could save over $10 per 250 grams if i just wait for shipping.
i just did it with the 3 pack of tangiers from H-S (because its much more reasonable for someone to just go with a 3 pack) and i came up with
$15.42 per 250 with HF discount
$17.52 per 250 without HF
thats saving $8-$10 per 250 grams.

I think you two are saying the same thing in a different way...

If you're looking for a single 250g pack of tangiers to smoke as quickly as possible, you're going to be spending roughly the same amount of money, give or take $5... The question then becomes, is it worth the extra $5 to buy at the store where you get nearly instant gratification, or does it behoove you to wait the 5-10 days for shipping and save $5?

The question isn't weather you save money by buying online...we all know that's the case (to an extent)... what wade and I were trying to say was, that $5 "premium" you're paying is going to pay for the tobacco tax and sales tax and possibly part of the business owners bottom line.

NOTE: This isn't about a multi-pack deal that's already discounted... this is 1 pack to 1 pack... I know most people will order 3 flavors to save more money in the long run...but for comparisons sake, we're going 1-1 (apples to apples, not apples to papayas)

Thats exactly what i was trying to get across this isnt about comparing 1 250g of tangiers that you can but in a lounge to a 3 pack deal on HS. We all know that when you order in bulk and order online you save money. Im just trying to let people know why prices in lounges are expensive, its not usually that there trying to rip you off. MOST lounges make almost all of there money off inhouse smoking. The actual selling of shisha and hookahs is usually so they can stay open legally.
