I went to arden fair mall in Sacramento and stopped by a cigar shop that sells some hookah stuff. I was gonna pick up some Romman Ivory Coast because I really want to try it. They were selling their 250g tins of Romman for $33.30!!! What's worse is some guys that didn't know anything about hookahs were buying a no name rip off hookah from him for like $130. I couldn't believe it. I felt bad for the guys.

On a good note, after that I went to Ziggies Smoke Depot in Stockton and he was selling his 250g fusion tobacco for $10! I also picked up some SB citrus mist and it's one of the best SB flavors I have ever had!

you charge what the market will bear. Wish i could actually make myself operate that way mind you.. smile.gif

And as long as people are buying the stuff at that price. They are going to keep on charging that price. Especially in a mall setting. Damn you buy a hookah in a mall you get what you deserve. biggrin.gif

I've seen someone pay $400 for an Obelisk, discounted because it had a chip onthe top of the base.

Gotta agree...anyone who'll buy a hookah at a mall deserves what they get. heh.

The hookah industry is so young in the US (and other area's outside of cultures where it hasn't been around for tens hundreds (thousands) whatever) of years, so the lack of education of course helps this rip-off pricing.

Eventually pricing will reflect accurate margins...but what's an accurate margin? Just what Mush said: what the market will pay.

Lets hope more people google "hookah forum" as many did here looking to expand / improve their knowledge and experience biggrin.gif Edited by redjako

Yea The Briar Patch sucks for hookah supplies. The last time I was there they tried to sell me a 100 gram pack of Epic shisha for 15 bucks. Theres a little smoke shop right on the corner of Alta Arden and Fulton called Blow Tell that sells AF, Fumari, Starbuzz, and coconaras. Its my favorite local shop.

I'll have to check that out I have never heard of Blow but on Fulton there is a mediterranean market that sells shisha and it's priced pretty well. I usually get my stuff online or at ziggies smoke depot in stockton. You should check out ziggies, he has really good prices and if you buy more than a couple things he will give you even better deals.

yep...$15.00...like a Hamilton and a Lincoln. and a Ulysses S. Grant for a 250g.

WOW. I'm pretty sure I'd stop smoking if all shisha was that expensive. Is everything that expensive or just Nakhla?

all I could find around Korea is AF, Starbuzz, and Nakhla. The lounges carry AF and Starbuzz...Nakhla is usually sold by vendors. The prices are pretty expensive when it comes to hookah stuff. Lounges charge between $15 and $25 for a hookah with a small bowl (roughly 45 minutes to 1hr of smoking). A vendor tried to sell me a small pumpkin hookah for $80 laugh.gif

Dang. I'd probably have to cut back on smoking if I lived in Korea. mellow.gif

All nakhla in sweden is smuggled but if you were to sell a 250g legally and taxed i believe it would cost around 90-100$, there was an online vendor here in sweden that sold nakhla 50g for like 20$.

man it sucks for ya'll
in northwest arkansas
i live 10 minutes from a headshop called the outerzone that sells havana at $3.50 a 50g and some knock off mya at a good price
and 30 minutes from a college town one of the headshops "the glass eye" sells 50g romman for $5 and various mya and egyptian/syrians but he waaaay over charges for for the hookahs i paid 80 for my econo (i know waaay too much but it was authentic and i didnt have to muddle with shipping and all that crazy stuff) though he had a 2 hose syrian chiller in store and i asked how much he told me "$250 but ill sell it for $200" i about crapped myself because he wasnt including tobacco, tongs, cleaning, case, or anything that the bigger online vendors include and it was almost double the cost.

and finally there's "sidney's emporium" head/tie dye/tapestry shop who sell al waha(my favorite) for $5.50 a 50g which is more than H-S but at the same time its worth not waiting 3 days and paying 8 bucks for shipping.
he also sells exclusively authentic mya and large phunnels all of it at internet pricing.
they had a 28" mya (idk which model) for $70 it was beautiful and i wish i had looked there before i tossed my cash at the glass eye.
at the same time i love my mya econo.
