Victim026
Well I'd been buggin Scalli off and on since he first introduced his hose to let me know when we could purchase one, and he finally gave me that opportunity 3 weeks ago. We had a few conversations about what I wanted out of the hose but I left most of the design and the wood choice in his hands(he built this one for me rather then normal woodworkin buddy Larry). The hose finally arrived a little over a week ago on thursday the 14th just in time for a few parties I was having this past weekend(Scalli went out of his way to make sure I had the hose by that date and for that I'm extremely grateful. What I ended up getting was a hose that's a bit over 6' long, with a 7 1/2" handle made of Chechen with a Madrone burl insert. Full review on it will be up by tommorrow night and I'll post back up in here with a link when it goes up Oh and I should mention that I also was tempted by that last round of Micro Phunnels Scalli produced and at the last second decided to add one from the flame olivewood stick he had to my order Damn you scalli for making such nice bowls Reviews on this baby will also go up by tommorrow night and as you can see from the pics I've gotten some usage in with it. Matt-641
Enjoy! The olivewood bowls are great Let us know how the hose works out too.
Victim026
Just as a preliminary statement before my reviews I'll say that at this point I can easily see myself never purchasing a different hose again(especially with the 5 year warranty on these). And when it comes to the bowl it outsmokes my standard egyptians, mini phunnel, small phunnel, and medium phunnel.
mavsfan31
This might be considered a stupid question, but does the shisha have any trouble staying in the bowl?
delSol_si
Damn victim, I am soo jealous. Those look awesome! How do you think this hose will compare to the new Roka? It looks like the handle is removable. Am I seeing this correctly? Also looks washable, is that correct? Really nice man, enjoy!
Victim026
QUOTE (mavsfan31 @ May 23 2009, 10:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>This might be considered a stupid question, but does the shisha have any trouble staying in the bowl?Well there is a few other pieces that go along with the bowl that aren't pictured. It's actually convertible and has a screen that can fit in the bottom to be used as a regualr bowl, or a small piece of pipe with a mod so it can be used as phunnel bowl. I haven't attempted using it as a regular bowl yet as the phunnel just works so damn well. So far I haven't tried anything other then AF in it(so it's juicy shisha) and I have zero leakage down the stem, it uses one coal at a time and I can usually go through three rounds of coal for a bowl which gets me about 1 1/2 hours worth of smoke time in, it also uses about half what my mini phunnel does so I'm saving shisha and coals like crazy

Really nice man, enjoy!Yup hose is completley washable, and both ends of the hose are removable. The good part is, is that if the hose ever does go bad you can always just order a new section of hose from Scalli and your right back in business. From the looks of things as long as you take care of the hose ends they'll never fail on you.

Just make sure to keep in mind when you see the price that this is a handmade bowl that takes quite a bit of effort to produce.
ashes87
Both the hose and bowl are great, makes me want to drive to Dallas to get 1 of each for myself. Granted, it would be a 6 hour drive one way for me but I think it would be so worth it.

Victim026
Lol shipping was only $5 for both the hose and the bowl, i think shipping might just be a tad more economical then driving... Unless your in it for the adventure....

Especially with the bowl it's like a damn no brainer, I pack it normal and I pop one coal on it and I'm good to go, no fuss, no heat management, just straight ahead clouds. Scalliwag
Glad you like them V. Finding out that the highflow connector ends are too big for KM's is good to know. It seems really odd that the opening is smaller than a QT connector and since I don't own a KM I did not expect that. I think I got an idea for the fix without sacrificing flow. Scalliwag
This should fix the prob with fitting a KM. I just extended the tube thru the wood so the taper could continue to a smaller diameter. Thanks for pointing that out Victim. I guess since that was a PM nobody else has a clue to what I'm talking about. I'll finish this out and send it to you. Victim026
Guess I should have checked the thread before sending another PM to ya. Thanks for takin care of this for me Scalli, I really appreciate it And for those of you wondering what's going on, my original end tip didn't fit into ANY of my KM's when I went to use the hose on them this weekend. IT WAS JUST TOO DAMN WIDE!!! Now talk about a high flow hose lol, but only approx 1/6" would fit into the hose port on my KM's so Scalli has been nice enough to cook up this solution for that issue. Pending the arrival of this piece I'll post my review on the hose, expect the bowl review to be up later this evening.

I do have hoses starting at $35 (to answer a previous post) that are whatever I get good deals on the wood and only one wood for now (maple) But oak or some of the other quality woods I happen to pick up on a good deal. The budget minded are still high flow though.
NimbleCow
Scalli are the wood/metal ends of these hoses washable as well? Anything that would potentially break down after repeated washings in the ends?
Scalliwag
QUOTE (NimbleCow @ May 25 2009, 08:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Scalli are the wood/metal ends of these hoses washable as well? Anything that would potentially break down after repeated washings in the ends? The wood does not come in contact with the air flow. The flex tubing is nylon. I would not soak the handles but you can pull them off and run a small bottle brush thru them, and clean them, rinse, etc. Then pull the hose cover off the nylon and soak it in some vinegar/water, rinse it and let it dry. Put the cover and the ends on and it's like new. Avoid harsh caustics or acidics but that goes for any hookah stuff.
