432J
so im fairly new to hookah smoking. I tried it for the first time a month ago at the urging of some friends who said something was wrong with me because im middle eastern and had never tried hookah. Anyways, about a couple of weeks ago i bought my own hookah. Its pretty much your basic single hose hookah. Well yesterday i was smoking it outside with some friends and as i was taking it apart, the downstem fell into a drain, gone forever . I know that the downstem is a product that is pretty much non existant in the market but does anyone know where i could get one or even make one?any help is much appreciated

If you really want to salvage that hookah, get a tap and die set, got to lowes and get a metal tube and make your own, that way you can make it as long as you want. Most of those cheap ass hookahs don't come with long enough down stems in the first place.I would suggest just getting a new hookah though, that one looks like a chinese pos, no offense. If you are trying to save money, hold up on buying that metal pipe, I am sure some of the guys on here will have a better idea. ACTUALLY, check out this. It is about a person converting a QT into a lava lamp hookah. We originally discussed it on the forums here. It doesn't show how to make a downstem, but gives a good idea on a CHEAP way to make an extension at least. If you can figure out how to start the downstem, then you can use that mod to make it long enough. Good luck!

Sonthert
A few people around here seem to want to be dicks. Watch it.Sorry to hear that happened, I've lost some hookah parts I didn't want to, too.Hookah Company does sell replacements. There a number of different sizes and threadings, I've seen collections at wholesalers, quite a lot of stuff. Ironically, they are hard to come by and somewhat expensive. I would suggest a flexible tube, like a vinyl tube. I don't know how well it would work, but they're chea and only require scissors to cut. Get a tube where the internal diameter is sufficiently large to fit over the small flange at the base of the bell, where the old downstem was, but sufficiently small to fit tightly. If you can fit one on, use a #4 clamp at the top, over the flange. The tube will only need to be 2-3", you should be able to buy a foot for $1 or $2. Get nylon if you can, if they have it. You should have enough to make three or four attempts at it. Hope this helps. Welcome to the Forum.
ilikemyusername
damn dude, that sucks. wait til you break a base, drop the bowl, tear the hose, and crack the stem. its all replaceable, even if your grommets go out on you. you're in the right place. Charley
ok your best bet is to find some small old looking hardware store that is poorly lit and everyone that works there is earthier like 6 years old or 80 years old. those kind of hardware stores have everything. I actually found a threaded pipe that fit my mya perfectly at one such place once to replace a bent downstem.these places are like magic no matter what your looking for just tell the kid or the old guy behind the counter and watch them disappear for 15-20 minutes then come back with exactly what you are looking for.
