mavsfan31
Here's my setup:MYA BambinoTangiers Lucid RaspberryWater had a few chunks of iceStock MYA BowlStock MYA Hose1 3 Kings 33mm QL discI packed the bowl, a little tighter than I do other shisha. The holes in the foil were adequate, and the water level was fine; no air restriction. The smoke was thick, really thick. I couldn't manage to get any good flavor though. The coal smoke was really overpowering. I tried to purge all of the smoke out, but still the coal smoke was way too strong. What am I doing wrong here? BLUE&GOLD
invest in a Phunnel Bowl!seems like your doing everything else finetry breaking the coal in 2 pieces and putting them on the opposite sides of each other if you didn't already do that, you don't want the coal in the middle of the bowl
Zinite
let the coals light all the way before you put them on the bowl
Sonthert
Break the 3K into quarters before you light it, and try 3/4 of one...its sounds like too much coal in some fashion.
HsK BATES
this is also my problem. i cant get a strong taste from tangiers lucid bramble and lucid watermelon. the taste is there but not strong at all. i packed it lose like af like most say here for lucid and poked a med amount of holes, and iv tried packing tight as well. also tried acclimating for an hour before smoking.im using.MZ horas c.small Chinese funnelmodded hoseice in basejap silver coated coals
Sonthert
Bates, try it without the ice, most people think it makes the flavor stronger without ice.
Kapten Kanel
Quicklights is a nono even though 3kings is supposed to be decent, try coconaras or similar. Also does the tobacco smell good? Have you acclimated it? (dont get me going on that, i have 4x250g of tangiers that smells like a biproduct of petrolium production, i have acclimated it for weeks, spreading it out on foil etc... the shisha just must have... died (lol) from the climate/humidity shock. Although, the tobacco does have traveled from california to minnesota then to sweden so i cant blame it haha , dont get me wrong, im not bashing tangiers, it wouldnt have the huge fanbase it has if it were like this, im probably just having bad luck)A phunnel bowl is almost mandatory i believe, get one! Kapten Kanel
QUOTE (Sonthert @ May 25 2009, 03:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>What flavors did you get, Kaptain?Static Starlight, Blueberry, Orange Soda (f-line) and Kashmir Cherry. I store them in airtight plastic boxes (my english fails here ). If i take of the lid of a box the tobacco smells kinda right first but then gradually smells worse as its exposed to the surrounding air. It doesnt matter how long i acclimate the shisha, it still just smells bad and this weird nasty tobacco smell. Im not giving up though, actually ordering some more today i think, mnhookah seems to have most flavours out of stock though (are they closing or something?that would be really bad they are in my opinion one of the best if not the best online vendor). Sonthert
Hmmm. Strange. Do you smoke inside or outside? If Outside...do you acclimate outside? Try throwing the container in the freezer for 24 hrs, with the lid off and see what happens. The packages were complete, with the papers and everything? The packages weren't damaged at all? The packages weren't damaged at all? This is truly customer service in its essence *thumbs up*I acclimate the tobacco inside and i smoke inside, never tried acclimating outside, maybe i should try that just to see if there is any difference.I know my part of the house has pretty bad ventilation but that shouldnt really affect anything?Im putting the kashmir cherry in the freezer right now, also putting the blueberry outside (kind of worried about all the insects and stuff though).Placed an order at mnhookah also, including 250g of lucid classic raspberry to see how lucid works.I´ll update as soon as i know more (and have removed the insects and cats from the blueberry )
Sonthert
No, if you smoke outside, you should acclimate outside. If you smoke inside, you should acclimate inside.Try the freezer and see what happens...you're doing that. To Maysfan, I think its too much charcoal, maybe too little tobacco. Try 3/4 of one QL, broken into quarters. If this doesn't work, lets try putting more tobacco in. Try starting with two quarters of coals, the smoke will be thinnish, but hopefully good. Take the charcoal off the bowl and add more tobacco..about the size of a peanut M&M. Use the same foil. Add charcoal again. See if this improved the bowl, the amount of smoke, the flavor. Repeat this until you don;t see any improvement in the smoke or flavor from the last amount of tobacco you put in. Once you get to the point where you feel its smoking well, add another quarter or two of a QL to the bowl and see how it goes then. This should familiarize how much tobacco is the right amount. If you need to add 8 little pinches, so be it. It sounds like you are about 3 pinches too short, if you are short.

The blueberry havent changed, except that the whole box was filled to the rim with pollen The kashmir cherry in the fridge seems...frozen lol, mixed it around a bit (damn it was goey and weird) and put it back, hope the freezer doesnt dry it out too much. Sonthert
Thats the point...drying it out in the freezer. After awhile, take it back out and let it defrost (About 15 minutes)...then see how it smells.
Kapten Kanel
Sorry for slow answer, freezer didnt help, smelled the same. The blueberry didnt change either. The lucid raspberry i got a few days ago is also having issues, smelled great when i opened the package and put it in a box, thought that i would let it acclimate a bit, baaam here comes the tobacco smell again, wtf is up with swedens humidity, i swear its cursed! The weather did change drastically though so it hasnt really gotten a real chance to acclimate yet, ill update soon.
steeeeeeve
For sure get rid of the ice.Ice gives colder smoke it feels nice on the throat and you can pull much smoother YES BUTWarm (room temperature) water gives 10 times more taste, granted its a little harsher but if you have been smoking a while it wont be a problem

steeeeeeve
Not so sure, your lacking flavour and i find when i use ice or cold water which i do occasionally i lose a large amount of flavour myself, and this was specifically noticeable with lucid brambleberry for me

twoapplesplease
Yea I say ditch the ice and just use fresh cold water.with the overpowering coal flavor seems like humman error.some sort of heat mgmnt issue needs to be changed.1 33 mm ql is not much heat really so some sort of bowl packing issue is also at hand here I believe. All in all I think you should try a little loser bowl packing some heavy foil and a 1000 little tiny holes.still just one 33mm ql should do it for that small hookah just have another one ready.I like starting with 2 ql(when camping of coarse I would never use ql otherwise)that way your ready.good luck and happy smoking
