Sherwood
Santino delivered, and how!I got my custom phunnel in the mail yesterday, and smoked myself dizzy playing with it. I'm hardly an expert at the moment, so I'll wait a bit to tell you all about my technique with this bowl, but I can definitely provide some pictures and impressions. FWIW, I paid $25 for mine, which is extremely reasonable. One with more custom work would be more expensive, but I'm a man of simple tastes First off, a picture of my bowl:I requested the symbol, but the ring of blue around the bottom was a surprise to me, and a nice touch. The symbol on there is something of an homage to one of my favorite places I've lived:To me this bowl is a wonderful marriage between the shisha quantity and ease of use you get from an Egyptian, and the quality of smoke you get from a phunnel. I had a little Al Fakher Vanilla / Tangiers Orange Soda mix I really liked laying around. There wasn't enough left to fill my small phunnel, and I liked it too much to throw it in an Egyptian, so the Santino Phunnel seemed the perfect option:I'd estimate about 20g of shisha in there. I smoked it for about 90 minutes before I was done, and it probably had another 30 minutes left in it. This amount of time is absolutely perfect for me. For anyone who missed out on a mini-phunnel, or would simply like a high-quality, short duration bowl I'd say this is a great option.Having loaded it up and started two CH naturals, I put it on my beloved KM:It fits snugly, and is about 1 1/2" shorter than my small Tangiers phunnel. It might even fit in a standard windcover, but I only have a tall, and it fits just fine in there. The blue color matches my setup nicely, I think...And, of course, it smokes wonderfully. Heat management was easy with 2 CH natural coconut coals. Place them on the sides, hanging off a bit, and smoked for probably 15 minutes without having to move them. Ashed them off, put them back on, and put on a windcover when necessary to start them back up. The bowl held heat very well, and transferred it to the shisha in a fashion similar to my small Tangiers Phunnel, and much better than my Chinese phunnel.I smoked Starbuzz Pink, Al Fakher Vanilla, and Tangiers Sour out of it today. The Tangiers session was more difficult than the other two. I'm still working on how to smoke tang properly with this bowl -- when I get it down, I'll let you all know.I almost forgot -- this will have to do for the obligatory "in action" pic:Any questions, friends? Giant Ninja Robot
That is beautiful man. Does it seem to leak juices down the holes at all? I really like the shorter neck on these bowls. The price also seems very reasonable compared to an MNH jetglass.Very nice.Hoorah for innovation!

Does it seem to leak juices down the holes at all?No, none down the holes so far. I've smoked Nakhla, K-Cherry (the juiciest Tangiers I have), and plenty of SB out of it and I haven't gotten anything leaking through the holes. I do get some burn-on on inside of the upper lip, however.QUOTE (giant ninja robot @ May 27 2009, 07:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I really like the shorter neck on these bowls. From what I've heard about the MNH jet glass, this would seem to be a better design. I've never smoked one, though, so I can't be certain. I do know that heat management is a cinch. I smoked a bowl of pink last night and literally never moved the coals. 30 minutes in I put on a windcover, and that took it to 50 minutes. Then I went to bed. It's pretty simple
Santino
that set up is sexy, it goes very well with the hookah. Tangiers will leave a slight burn on, but its super simple to clean if you fill a bowl with some lemon juice / vinegar and let it soak for an hour or so. But usually if you rinse it out with water after each use it'll stay pristine. Our website will be up and running in 2 weeks for all 4 bowl styles we make, hose tips, hookahs, etc. Our glass hookahs are now refined and badass if I do say so myself, and we're finalizing a glycerin filled hose tip (freezable). Thanks Sherwood, I really appreciate it man. I appreciate you putting this awesome thing together for me.I'll give the lemon juice a shot tonight and see how it goes.I'm saving pennies for a ridiculous, gaudy, complicated hose tip. Should be all saved up in 2 weeks. I'm really looking forward to getting some more glass.

Scalli's olivewood bowl and custom hose, Wades roka, poncho's glass hookah, and now these. I read about the Smiley's bowl from a long time ago as well. Tyler
I actually use this bowl more than my phunnel, maybe because it's FSU themed so I'm partial to it than a blue/black phunnel But seriously, these bowls work great!

FSU's was more expensive because it was very detailed, but mine and Sapph's were the base price. It's well worth it, IMO. QUOTE (FSUReligionMan @ Jun 1 2009, 10:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I actually use this bowl more than my phunnel, I do, too. 3x as much. Mostly owing to the fact that I rarely smoke for more than 1 hour at a time (though I might do that 3 times a day ) It's a great bowl for short, flavorful sessions. Either way, looks well worth it. I think mine will be BA. I'm thinking about maybe seeing if he can make a glass scalli mod for my small tang phunnel as well... Santino
For promotional purposes the price is $25 for any regular forum member, once the website launches the price will be 30 and 25 for all premium forum members. I'm sure we can make an exception in a few cases, like you Delsol.I'm getting dizzy with myself trying to run the store and hammer down our product line, but I think you guys will be rather impressed. Patience Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm glad you all enjoy it. edit: one thing I should mention is there will be a "big brother" to the crown bowl.. the crown jewel. This bowl will run $40, and is a mofakkin beast. Pictures to come! Edited June 6, 2009 by Santino
hartwell778
This might be a dumb question but if you rinse this bowl out right after smoking it while it still hot will ut crack like most glass?
delSol_si
Haha, thanks Santino, much appreciated I am planning to upgrade to premium status here before too long...like I said though, it looks like a good deal either way. A custom glass bowl is pretty BA and I am really curious about this new design, in a good way I was thinking it is probably a good idea for me to wait until you site is up anyway, that way I can check out what else you have. A lot of glass, like soft glass will do this. This stuff is ALL made from borosilicate (pyrex) tubing. We anneal these properly.
