Rootsman
Greetings Just back from a week in Marrakech and thought I would share my findings. Well, shisha smoking is illegal in public places so nothing going on there. But pipes are for sale but they don't look great - very cheap Egyptian or Syrian models. I didn't see any I liked enough to even enquire about the price. Only Nakhla ma'assell was available, just saw the usual flavours in 50g packs (didn't ask price as I already have a good stock from ym Cairo trip from January). Ma'assell is available from specialist tobacco shops (tabacs). Well that seemed to be the end of that until I visited the duty free store at the airport. About 6 flavours of Nakhla were on sale (the usual double apple, mixed fruit, strawberry etc) plus a couple I had never seen before (vanilla and banana - the latter in a tin). All 250g boxes were 3.50 euros so I bought 1 vanilla and 1 banana. Haven't tried them yet by the way. Anyway, what was on sale was a Tunisian ma'assell called "Pomme de Jerba" (Apple of Djerba). It was 7.50 euros for 10 50g packs, so I thought I would give it a go. Got home, loaded up my "premium" Egyptian pipe with it and it was a really nice smoke. Less flavour than the Nakhla double apple but more subtle, and very smooth indeed. Flavour maybe didn't last as long as Nakhla but it was a very enjoyable smoke indeed. I was wondering if anyone had tried this Tunisian brand before? By the way, there is another fake Al Fakher available here in the UK, saw it on Saturday night at my local lounge. cheers Rootsman
