Magical Mystery Hookah Hose

Recommended Posts

its a great lookin hose stuie, play around with it im curious to see how long it will last, and i dont think its humidity that kills hoses, i live in texas and non on my hoses have rust yet, goin on 3 years. one did but that was my buddies fault for washing a non washable hose lol. im curious to see why it is that they rust in dry and humid places. i really dont thinks its the water in the base(at the right level) or shisha. maybe its the saliva people leave behind. who knows

I totally scored on this one! It looks freaking sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventhough the tip is small it pulls like a standard Mya hoses. I like Mya hoses, some don't but it's a great hose!

I could make that into a top-quality performer. I'd like to. Really. I like it.

So I put my order in for one of these today... Really curious to see what it's going to look like. That and I haven't used a metal tip before... :/

Eric, make a Tangiers hose, I don't care if you call it that, I'll call it that and it will be dedicated to your great shisha in my hookah.

My theory on hose rust.

No matter what environment you're in, your hose WILL RUST. Why? You may ask. Well my theory is that while your environment can speed up the process it has nothing to do with it. Your hookah causes the rust. When you take a pull, the tobacco heats up and releases hot flavored smoke down the pipe. When that hits the water the heat has to go somewhere so you don't inhale it. So the heat is absorbed by the water, the water of course will heat to the point that it starts to evaporate slightly and be pulled up with the smoke. So since the smoke is going through your hose the water gets caught in the hose and cases rust over time.

It may not be scientific but it seems like a solid theory to me.

Same hose design more or less. They still have steel coils inside the hose that get exposed to the moisture.

Its interesting you say that, because once a hose starts to rust, its too late, and hoses from hookah company that have been there for awhile have rust in them, they are much closer to the beach (3 miles). Perhaps it all has to do with humidity. Yet, I hear about people in Arizona and other dry places that have hose rust too...I'm interested to know. I always put it down to the low moisture content in Tangiers in conjunction with the glycerine drying the hose. There has to be a reason, if you guys don't think its because Tangiers has less water...

Pretty sure rust isn't from total immersion in water, nor total lack of humidity, but rather the repetitive or long drying of water (in any amount) on any rust-able metal surface. (I think this following link has responses that are more in depth than what I have written here)

So...the beach, closer to the water, maybe there are tiny droplets of air in them that might not represent true humidity, but rather just ocean spray moisture, who knows (I actually have no idea since I've never been there)...Then the repetitive drying of them. It's possible the store inside doesn't have proper ventilation or absorption of trapped humidity in their causing it to be possibly more humid than outside due to it not being "open air"...

Regardless, the point is, if you immerse a piece of clean rust-able metal into water and let it sit, it technically wouldn't rust nearly half as quick as if you had an identical rust-able metal getting immersed and removed from the water (just long enough to dry off the water every time).

What causes rust?

Since a hookah hose is constantly bombarded with air and water droplets when in use, it's expected that the unwashable hoses will rust in a very untimely fashion. You can eliminate this by using some sort of contraption after every session to push compressed air into the hose to dry it more rapidly, then let sit in a dry location until next use (sorry, dunno the name of which I speak...lol).

The longer the humidity sticks around in the hose, the quicker (if you're talking weeks/months, not referring to 1 afternoon) it will rust...

Wanted to add:

should also mention I wasn't saying that if you push/pull the water out as fast as possible that it eliminates 100% chance of rusting. Au contrare. It will rust, the last portion of that post was just stating how it can be accelerated and/or decelerated but never eliminated completely.

As I said, just the act of smoking causes these mechanisms of this reaction to come together. air/water/drying

Having too much water in the base (which I prefer for the smoke / flavor), your bound to get back-jar wash into the hose. Check your hoses post session, you may see some moisture on the GASKET.

The only check I can do is suck from the port itself before putting the hose on, if I can pull water, the water Will back wash into the hose
