YO MUSH that is super cool.. I never knew you were into shooting!!..

I used to shoot IPSC back about 7-8 years ago.. Its been a while since I've been to a match. But I was pretty heavy into it. I even hand loaded my own rounds..

DAMN,, watching that vid makes me wanna head down to the range and see if I still got the STUFF!!

Thanks for bringing back some great memories smile.gif

On a side note,, why a revolver?
Does IDPA provide some advantage in points to revolvers?

BTW,, My stable back in the day consisted of

Kimber 1911 .45Cal (Sold It)
H&k Usp Tactical .45cal (Sold It) I kick myself in the ass for selling it!!
Glock 23c .40Cal with a shit ton of trigger work.. (my baby! will never sell it!!)

i never grew up around guns, my parents didn't like them even though i shot skeet every summer. I wanna do this so bad, but where I am there is nothing like that. One range out here... weird for Texas... and it's a hunters range. Pistol people don't get much love.

Awesome shooting by the way Mushrat!

That's pretty bad ass, but I don't really understand what they're scoring. Is it just who can shoot the fastest? and what the hell is that thing you have to hit in the beginning?

Stuie, try the Idpa or Ipsc websites, You should be able to get hooked up with your local club. Or try a Pistol shooting forum..

BTW shooting bowling pins is also tons of fun, might wanna try that if u cant get hooked up with the other stuff

DAMN I WISH I HAD MORE TIME FOR MY HOBBIES..

This was a BUG match. Back up guns. So instead of using the Match pistols most people shoot with we were using the guns we ACTUALLY carry. Very interesting to see the differences in scores. smile.gif

The matches are timed, then penalty seconds are added for missed targets or shots that are not in the correct area.
The poor big guy in red had trouble fitting in the silly ass Toyota 4-runner for that segment. biggrin.gif

Ah, the popper target. When you pushed that metal target behind us down, it pulled a stick out from under the pivoting target in front of us. The metal ball rolls down the rails popping the target UP, then when it rolls off the end of the rails the target drops down again.

Nice, I shoot regularly but haven't competed. Probably couldn't with my USP I have. I shoot Spingfield Xd's way better, but don't have one... yet happy.gif.

WHy wouldn't you be able to compete?

IDPA is the perfect organization for the occasional shooter. They kid that it also stands for I Don't Practice Anymore. There are no prizes for winning besides bragging rights so we don't tend to attract the SERIOUS competition shooters. Just a group of normal men and women who happen to carry guns. You shoudl try it.

I've been considering getting involved with IDPA as well. There are a bunch of guys here who do that a lot. Right now I've had to cut back on my shooting due to the inability to get ammo and components because of all the political concerns. Last year at this time, I was shooting 6-700 rounds a month. I haven't shot in over a month. I'm gonna go out this weekend and at least shoot my carry gun a bit to keep sharp.

time to get a rockchucker? or some other reloading system and start making your own. smile.gif

As you can see IDPA is a hoot and give you real life scenerios you may actually find yourself in. Plus its a fine way to get some stress relief. Most matches use under 100 rounds so its almost afordable. wink.gif

Yeah, I have a Dillon 550B, but components are hard to find right now. Primers are almost impossible to find - I've managed to get my hands on a few large and small pistol primers so I can start shooting again, but I really have to keep on the lookout to find them. Lot's of online places won't even take backorders they are so far behind. Powder Valley, one of the major distributers, has over 50 million primers on backorder with the manufacturers. Hopefully, by the end of the year, all the horders will have gotten their fix and they rest of us can actually by components as needed.

Ahh..
Now i feel like an idiot, but it's nothing new. smile.gif

It's the republicnas and the gun dealers that are driving the Rumors of new gun control laws. The Democrats and the white house are not only staying mostly quiet, but I recall an official statement saying they were NOT planning do do anything with guns. I think the Dems learned last time. Mess with people's guns, lose the White House and Congress.

You'll notice nothing HAS been done in terms of legislation. But the gun dealers and such have jacked their prices and are making a killing on rumors THEY are perpetuating.

It's not so much on the dealer end of it though, its the consumer. The only reason they can sell a $600 rifle for $900 to chumps like me is because everyone is trying to buy things before a potential ban.

I don't trust either party, just because someone says they don't intend to ban anything doesn't mean crap to me. Granted I never expected a ban right away like many people have been worried about. More realistically would have to wait until a (God forbid) Obama second term happy.gif.

There is no doubt the Dems are looking forward to their chance to start passing laws. I am afraid they are just avoiding the waste of political clout at this point. I am sure that sarah brady gargoyle-woman is waiting in the sidelines for her chance to play. I would almost expect the gun rights issue to become a political diversion at some point. National healthcare has the potential of becoming a back-door route to gun control.

Currently there is a bill to ban anyone on the no-fly list from owning/using a firearm. Sounds good until you find out that even homeland security admits to 1 in 4 being incorrectly on the list. Since the list is name only... how many people may share the same name? Man, "John Smith" and "Jim Johnson" are not going to have a gun!

Sotomayor is decidedly strong on anti-gun bias, that may be what raises the opposition to her.
