I was all excited that people were talking about the jet-black molasses based glory of real Bahraini Tobacco. One of the inspirations for my tobacco. Guess not. Just the Nakhla rip off of it.

Perhaps it is mad in Bahrain, but the Bahraini Tobacco Company knows how to spell Bahraini...if Nakhla had bought Bahraini Tobacco, they would spell it correctly. Bahraini Tobacco Company is separate, and undistributed in the United States, as far as I know. Sorry to be disagreeable but, It is a rip-off. They started making the rip-off like 7 years ago. For awhile there was a Bahreini, Bahrini and a Bahreini.

Bahrini Tobacco

This advertisement for the same tobacco indicates it is made in Egypt.

They may be out of business, all the links I found didn't work and one site listed all the agricultural products from different countries listed nothing for Tobacco from Bahrain.

I hope thats not the case. When I used to get the bahrini tobacco from the mid east grocier it was very dark almost black not like the red color in the link you posted. And said made in baharain right on the jar that was a nakhla jar..this was ten years ago though and it is very possible they don't get or make it this way anymore.I really hope its the good stuff.

I'm pretty exited to try the tangiers.should be here tommorow.I bet its the closest thing and the best tobacco I've had since then.Probly even better.I'm gonna check your site out agin and see if you make a kashmire apple.Probly the closest thing I can get to that bahrini tobacco of the past.

There was a time when that tobacco was prevalent. Not so anymore. I hope it is what you're looking for though.

You know they can dye tobacco black. They could take corn syrup based tobacco and dye it black to make it look like Bahraini. The rip-offs I saw back in the day weren't black, though...only Bahraini was black. I'm just saying somebody could have a mind to do such a thing. Wait a minute! This gives me an idea...corn syrup is cheaper to use...

Just Kidding. nana.gif

stupid corn syrup! My order of tangiers should be at the po box right now.gonna go get it and fire it up for the first time.I'm really needin some og all I've had the last couple days is cool-aid stuff I keep around for when my buddies come over.

I'll do a report in about 3 hours.

I got in touch with an old buddie that works near that mid-east grocier gonna have him swing by and grab some for me.I'm betting its still there and only there. They do there own importing.they get it in every 2 weeks and sell out in 2 days.thats what the grocier said. And it was like that back then too.

I found several reviews online about this. In the picture below it says the word "Bahraini" The shisha is called Ayam Zaman. Some say it is the best apple taste ever.

Anyone here ever tried it?

Just got word back from karabitian that the old baharini tobacco I use to get is no langer available in that form and has changed.
Too bad they had to go and change it.It was amazing stuff like double apple with twice the apple and twice the anise with other exotic spices.

too bad huh.. sonthert I bet you got to try the old stuff before they changed.Should have known you knew about this from the get go.I bet years ago when it disapeared everyone was bummed out also.
