The $30 Shisha Hunt

So the economy being what it is (a discussion for another topic on another forum) I am on a budget and unemployed. The up side is lots of time to bask in the sunshine, enjoy a drink and smoke the hookah! The downside, lots more shisha smoked, getting fatter from beer and being unemployed!

My question for everyone to ponder is where can one find the best deal on the net with $30 to spend for some great tobacco. In a perfect world I would like to pick up one of the value packs where you get different flavors, like say 10 50g boxes each a different flavor.

I have done some shopping around and shipping ends up killing me and blowing the budget out of the water. If I want to make it at least a few weeks being a bum with out the better half getting too annoyed (give me a break, this would be the first time in over 2 years I have had any time off including vacations) I had better keep on the budget big time.

you could check out the trades sections. Also hookahjohn.com has a nice pack of 10x50g Al Falker packs for like 25bucks and 7 bucks flat rate shipping. Just over your limit by 2 bucks tho.

actually your best bet 1st off would be to try an make your own ther ia quite a few threads in here on how to make your own shisha if you can get a handle on making your own .... would prob cut your budget in half just search "homade shisha in the tobacco section Edited June 6, 2009 by h00kaJimi

Check your local tobacco store. Many tobacco/cigar shops now carry at least some shisha and even if its a bit pricier than ordering online, you don't pay for shipping...

also, alfakher.com occasionally has pretty good deals so thats worth looking into.

Shipping works out to be pretty much free if you use the forum discount at any of the vendors. I think some of the older more traditional (and cheaper) brands are under rated by a lot of people so I'd use the discount and pick up some Al Waha, Nakla, etc. Think of it as an opportunity to give up the more expensive brands and to look deeper into the traditional brands and styles that have been around for years and years and years.

Tangiers really has the most longevity..1 bowl loaded can last for three days I'd give that the chance..if local is too expensive, go with HJ or hookah-shisha, etc

I would suggest Layalina if I were you. Usually really cheap and smokes great. Plus, it seems to be the one brand most shops carry, if you decide to buy it locally. I would also suggest buying 250g's, not 50g's. From my personal experience, it seems like you get jipped on the 50 g's. Lets say you use 25g's per bowl. A 50 would theoretically last 2 bowls. a 250 would last 5. Never seems to be the case. It always seems like 250's last way longer than 50's, even when you factor in the difference in amounts. I used to get 2 bowls out of a 50g and then I could get like at least 8-10 bowls out of a 250, and I don't feel like I pack them any lighter. my

isn't somewhere in michigan supposed to have some really good hookah shops and lots of them? stand on a nearby corner with a "will work for shisha" sign until one of the shop owners take the bait and at least come out and talk to you.
Tell them some dumbass named Scalliwag talked you into it and that times are really tihjt and you really just need a good hookup. I know if I was a shop owner that it would be entertaining enough to me to hook you up with cool shit on the cheap. It may be a dumb idea but I've had great luck with some of the dumbest ideas.

Good luck trying to find vegetable glycerine from a local grocer. I looked at 5-6 stores at least(every store I could think of) and none of them had it. Walmart had glycerine, but not vegetable glycerine.

I got a kilo for under 30 bucks. But that was at a shop. Go to South Smoke. They havent upped their prices due to the new tax system yet. So you can probably pick up 500 grams or so of shisha for about 25 bucks with shipping. Pick up some Layalina Raspberry and Nakhla Peach or Melon. Both are great flavors if you want something juicy with the Nakhla.

I put 3 flavors of Nakhla in my cart and went to checkout and it cost 31.95 with tax and shipping to California. I'm sure it would come out to 30 or under for you in Michigan. I put Nakhla Peach, Sweet Melon and Mint in my cart.

Wow guys I do thank you so much for all of the feedback / info! South Smoke looks like it has an OK deal, and will be sure to check out Hookah John as well. I am all over the one freebee deal that shroom605 talked about as well. I am sure the better half will let me slide on a dollar or two, that is as long as I make sure to bring her breakfast in bed one morning... you know how that goes!

Dearborn is in Michigan, a very large middle eastern population. I am about 2 hours away and plan on going the next time I am down that way but also would like to have a list nailed down on what I like / want when I go. I have only been smoking for about 6 months now and have only had some Hookah Hookah flavors that where not real great in my book than I was given a tin of Starbuzz white grape that changed my world / life!

i would highly suggest nakhla. esp the sweet melon. it's going to have to be packed COMPLETELY differently than starbuzz so beware, however it's really just a really heavy/dense pack and is extremely easy to get right and to manage. also (kind of a side note) for really cheap coals, i would suggest 100% natural mesquite wood or some other completely natural HARDWOOD charcoal (anything that isn't hardwood will go out quickly and not last). you can probably find it with all the barbeque shit at a grocery or home improvement store or something

Yes. And the main reason I suggest Layalina instead of anything else is because it is not temperamental. It is hard to fuck it up. I'm am not saying you will fuck anything up, I am just saying that if you have a limited amount of shisha to get you by, I personally wouldn't even want to take the chance of screwing up a bowl and wasting shisha.
