PVC hose upgrade... **PICS**

Recommended Posts

Props to isrealenigma for ispiring me for this!My hookah cam with a 3' hose, but it seamed like 1 foot when you were trying to smoke it so, i decided it was time for an upgrade. Me being cheap, recoursefull, and such, but trekked down to lowes and picke up about 7.3 feet or fresh, FDA approved, braided PVC ice maker hookup line, I tore into my old hose to take the ends off and then I proceeded to attatch them to the new hose. The new hose didnt quite fit under the metal sleeve on the old parts, so I finished it with some shiny duct-type tape and called it good. Then I ran hot water through it for a while to get the pvc taste out, and fired up a bowl of al fahker mint. The smoke was no harder to pull, and tasted just as great as usual, it came out thick and fluffy with no problems. The best part, is now me and the freinds dont have to hunch around it like a bunch of hyenas around a gazelle corpse, just kick back and enjoy.PICS:

Re-ahem. Yash is the guy who like, eats plastic with his Honey Bunches of Oats. Check out some of the crazy crack-pipe stuff he has made...if we allow user titles again, I think his should be "King PVC"Much love and respect, Yash-man...Yashman...Yeah.

Yeah but a PVC hose is completely washable, so u could easily do it every couple smokes, or just get a piece that isnt translucent.
Pvc has been known to let off toxins when smoked out of.
are you sure thats? or is that just when it is heated seems to me smoking passing throught it wouldnt harm you esp. if it is FDA approved like OP said where i would see the harm is if the actual tube was heated

if the smoke was like really hot i could see it, but this smoke is usually room tempurature or lower, so i really dont see how it would be letting off any more toxins than running hot or cold water through it (which is what its meant for)

Hey, polymer people...PVC is an acronym for Poly Vinyl Chloride, also known as just vinyl...Its the same thing! The problem is, as I have said before...why do you assume the hoses that are sold for hookahs are safe? They're made in foreign countries as cheaply as possible...maybe they use all sorts of objectionable things...maybe they used PVC in your hose you are smoking out of, right now!

Some of them made in my country and I have seen different kinds of them and cut open some of my old marpuçs. Some of them have rust prone metal and PVC coating in them and some of them have stainless steel with leather inside coating still pc coating with small holes. Still, a standard PVC marpuç does not hold anything and tastes like sh*t (I have made one myself and tried it...)

Maybe we want to make you paranoid. Maybe that's why we're here, Anthony.I believe coated hoses are coated with polyethylene, which is not Polyvinylchloride. Don't quote me on that...it has a PE kind of look to it (from the coated hoses I've disected).

I remember a while back during the "foil debates", people were arguing that because inhaling aluminum oxide is linked to alzheimers, that we should use hookah foil. Who is to say that hookah foil isnt just your standard aluminum foil with some fancy cuts? I would say it most likely is.For those of you who dont know, nearly all hookahs produced in Egypt are made from recycled piping(from sewers and the like). Fun stuff, eh?

I Have been smoking from PVC (vinyl) for the last 3 I think years. I have not once had any toxins or random plastic vapors attack me while I smoke my Hookah, the only thing that makes my smoke turn bad is when I put too much coal on and burn the head.... But maybe the PVC is different around the world but I can tick off Dubai(UAE) and Sydney(Australia) if that helps at all... In conclution we need more people to experement and become lab rats for this experement.P.S. If we do not hear from you in 2-3 months whe will predict you are dead and stop smoking from our PCV....
well, i have decided i dont like this hose, first its too stiff, then it tastes nasty unless you rinse it right before you smoke out of it. I just thought i would tell yall.
I personally use the vinyl tubing that is not as thick as the stuff you used, and doesn't have those stitching lines like on yours. Just a simple, plain clear tube, which is quite flexible. Sure when I first bought it, it was a tad stiff from being tightly coiled up in a roll, but after about 3 days of use, it was nice and flexible.Sorry to hear about your taste misfortune as well. I've never had any taste problems iwth mine, and only rinse it out once per two weeks.I really am just gunna let the whole pvc thing die. If some people are scared of the results, then don't use it and stick to the conventional hose. I like vinyl, and I'm sticking with it :)
So does anybody know of any hoses which definitely ARE safe?
The ones made in Izmir/Turkey. At least they are made by using traditional methods with more traditional materials.
