Last night I rolled into my friends house (3 and a half hour drive south) with a tub of orange soda that had acclimated at my own house. I was all pumped to smoke them out with it and packed it immediately without letting it sit for a while. Put the coals on and it was harsh as hell, almost took me out for the night. I packed up a small eygptian head with some starbuzz and we smoked that for a while and gave the phunnel with the orange soda about 2 hours to sit. Threw it on and it smoked perfectly. Just a word of caution...I had a bowl of it about 30 min ago. I acclimated it inside, packed it inside..etc.But I took it outside to smoke on my back porch. I wasn't exactly pleased. It was smokable but the whole time I was thinking "really, this is it?"So hopefully that wasn't it.It wasn't harsh, but it was not very enjoyable I guess. idkI am no pro at packing tangiers bowls but I really think I did it as perfectly possible after watching countless Tangiers packing videos you may have done it right, you may not have. you may have been overly excited b/c of the hype it gets, worthy of the hype or not depends on the person, and you may just be different from the tang fans. How was it "not enjoyable" ? If it wasn't harsh ... what was it?The flavor seemed like it was in the background ..like I felt like I was smoking AF with a background hint of some orange ish. The smell tasted better than my bowl was hitting lol.I just read a thread on heat management and I think I will try cracking my coco's in half and spreading the heat around. Someone else was having the same problem as I am.How many coals do you all use / do you crack them in half? (I know these questions are beaten to death, im sorry :|)We are both floridians... I do the same thing as you, accli inside, pack inside... but I smoke outside... so what I do (thanks Eric!!) is once the bowl is packed and the holes are punched, I put the bowl outside for 2 hours... just sitting on my porch... then smoke it.Works WONDERS. Give that a try + heat management - you'll make it happen brother, I have faith

krizz
I usually just acclimate OG for around 5-6 hours, never had a problem with it (i live in virginia). just careful with the smell, as i understand it the smell is just added scent. when i smoked tangiers a few years ago it never had any smells to it. you could always just pack a bowl and let it sit for half an hour to an hour, that should make it smokeable. Sonthert
Acclimating is not always necessary, but generally a good idea.

Last night I followed the instructions I gave you for F-Line Kashmir... smoked great, but a girl came over unexpectedly so I had to stop smoking. I quickly knocked the coals off the top, blew away the ash, and took care of the woman. Came back like 4 hours later at midnight... put fresh coals on the bowl, let it heat up for like 5 minutes, then toked... WOW. So much more flavor and deliciousness than the first time. With our level of ulta-humidity in Florida, I am a firm believer in letting the shisha mellow.
Sonthert
It acclimated. The heat probably helped acclimate it.
