Sonthert
I get smoke coming out of my large phunnel, too, at the beginning. It could be definitely an overpack, mixed with an increase in humidity. Do you get juice down the sides of the bowl and charcoal sticking to the foil? If so, thats an overpack. Thick fluffy with no flavor could be a subtle flavor (although Brambleberry doesn;t fit that category) or humidity change. Give it some more time. See what develops. momatik
Yeah it very well could be too a mixture of both problems.I don't get juices down the sides of the phunnel, but when I poke my holes i get juice coming out of the top of the holes, which I do wipe off. I don't recall my coals sticking to the foil, but I did notice that my coals went out like right away because of the contact to the bowl, so I have to flip immediately after starting.I saw this other method on youtube where you pack it tight, but below the rim of the bowl. My concern is though, when I poke the holes I'm gonna pull the shisha up, ruining the dense pack itself. So I'm thinking what I will try is:-I'm going to pack it dense, below the rim-before I put the foil on top, put holes through the shisha all the way down. This way I'll be able to make sure it's still packed relatively dense. -Then I can put the foil on top without pressing down-Poke a lot of holes just through the foil and not all the way downI'm hoping the extra space between the shisha and the foil will keep the bowl from burning, if that is indeed the case. It's confusing, because I can't be sure if the harshness is because I packed it wrong or if it's because I burnt the bowl. What do you think guys? mattarios2
it is ok for the tobacco to touch the foil. To find out if you are burning the bowl just do as i said earlier, use a tiny amount of heat and keep adding little by little if needed. Did you try that? Sonthert
Yeah, maybe about 5% less tobacco. 2 Peanut M&Ms should be the right amount to take out...see if it helps.
momatik
So I packed it last night like Calidibron again, but I split the coals and slowly added. The flavor was there and I knew I was so close to getting it to smoke right, but there was harshness. The harshness had to have come from the way I packed it. I figure I must have over packed it. Fail. I'm close though.

Sonthert
I'm doing it. Right now. After 11 hours, my first KP bowl was getting tiring, so I packed a new one.
