Hookah Smoking With Orange Flavored Tobacco

Recommended Posts

I just went to a barbecue, the food was great. They set up a hookah, and used this tobacco, that was black in color, and allegedly "orange" flavored. It was the grossest stuff I ever smoked in my life. Tasted like licking the inside of a chimney. I was gracious to my host, they seemed to enjoy it.

Next time I go, I will bring my own tobacco, and donate some. Ick.

That's a bummer... nothing gets me bummed out more than seeing a hookah, having my brain get all excited, try it and... POW! (bad stuff) RIGHT IN THE KISSER.

You'd be surprised how often the experience happens at a lounge, too.

NAKHLA ORANGE AND TANGIERS ORANGE SODA!!!!!

Yeah I had a friend pack some expired havana in his pipe with crappy QLs the other day and I set up with AF esk apple and coco coals, to have his fiance exclaim "damn thanks for doing a hookah right for us".

I was afraid he was going to deck me lol.

no one has ever said any tang flavor is "nasty" some people don't like certain flavors but i highly doubt any flavor tang has is nasty ... my bet is you did something wrong ... hah and you'd think i was a tang fan.

I got the f-line orange soda, I had one good session and 4 that were not great. I kept trying because of the one good session, but it seemed not to want to acclimate and was very very finicky with the coals.

*edit* Yea, I never got "nasty" flavor, just weak flavor harsh smoke, or no little smoke and no flavor. The harshness was nasty when it hit but I wouldn't say overall it was a "nasty" flavor. Edited by Zyram

I am glad that many have similar experiences similar to what I have been through.

The worst thing is when a co-worker heard that I like smoking hookah, and invited me and my buddy to his place. He kept talking about how many kinds of shisha he has and how he is the king of hookah in his circle.

First Puff and I almost screamed F*CK. Shisha was like 2 years old in his fridge and the bowl was the smallest cermaic thing I have seen in my life, holes were HUGE I think that he used a freaking fork, and on top of all that the hose had water in it. But I have to be polite and I did not say a work, but he was asking me how is it? do you like it ? He only realized that his shisha was crap when he smoked in my place.

I told him about this forum. I hope that he does not read this post. Sorry bro if you do.

honestly, i think that's where most Tangiers problems stem from....

minus the acclimation issues.... Edited by arcane

Its not a question of doing something wrong, per se. People have an established method of doing something, its right for them. Smoking Tangiers may require a different method, but I wouldn't say they're doing anything wrong, they're just doing it in a manner thats not conducive to optimal Tangiers performance.

hmmm...yeah, i guess that's one way you can look at it...but, i see it differently...because there's directions on the package.

the package says, "do not sprinkle tobacco into the bowl"...and it should be as dense as it is in the bag. so, if someone says...well, crap..that's a lot of shisha...and my sprinkling method works for AF, Nakhla, etc...why shouldn't it work here? then they sprinkle and proceed to get harsh/thin smoke...i'd say they're wrong. if it's not as dense as its in the bag...again, wrong.

just my opinion though. if don't follow directions, you shouldn't expect to get Tangiers to smoke right. however, if you can get it to smoke right without following directions, then more power to you.

Reading directions? Really? smile.gif

If you don't follow the directions, any ill-results are your own responsibility, I agree, but people might be inclined to assume that all tobacco is the same, more or less, which I disagree with on some levels, but ah well...

i do have a question though...in your directions, it says "do not sprinkle in the tobacco, pack it down or (something something)"

does that mean, don't sprinkle, don't pack it down, don't (something something)?

or is it supposed to read, don't sprinkle...instead, pack it down, etc?

Ok, fail on the clear directions. If it were to say "Do not sprinkle tobacco in or pack it down" or "Don't sprinkle tobacco in nor pack it down", it would be much clearer. I guess its a matter of interpretation. The tobacco should be the same density in the bag and in the bowl, so you shouldn't pack it down to get it more dense than it is in the bag...but if you transfer it and it ends up less dense than it was in the bag, then you should pack it down to get to the same density as it is in the bag.
