ih303
I have several flavors of Tangiers that I have tried acclimating over the past several months. I never got them to acclimate so they are currently just sealed up in plastic containers. Is it too late to get them to acclimate at this point? Two of my flavors, Tropical Revenge and Pineapple, had been sealed up after a failed acclimation period, re-opened for a second attempt, and then resealed after a second failure. Is there some point that they just become spent? Should I try to acclimate them again or just toss them out?

redjako
QUOTE (Sonthert @ Jul 12 2009, 06:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (twoapplesplease @ Jul 6 2009, 03:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>just wanted to let you know that the kashmire apple I got a few weeks back has acclimated and now tastes very good.I first let it acclimat for two days and tried smoking a couple of times and Yuk it was terriable.Hard to say when kashmire flavors are ready the smell of kashmire was so strong and I could't tell what it was supposed to be like.So I threw it in the back of the pantry and there it sat untill yesterday when I noticed the rest of my stash was gitting low.So I gave it another shot and wow it was really good ,best bowl I had in weeks. All the tangiers I've had really have been best when they acclimate for 2-3 days open then letting them sit on the shelf for two weeks sealed.Wish I would of figured this out earlyer most my tangiers is gone before its at its peek.Plus I found that coconara is too hot to the touch for tangiers but with two layers of HD foil it smokes like a dream.Just takes 8 puffs instead of 2 gitting started.worth itWell done. You empirically derived what it took me 20 hours of statistical analysis to arrive at. I feel dumb. The new procedure is similar to twoapplesplease's procedure. Glad it smoked well for ya. Hopefully everybody else will find the same success you did. This is what I also said in my last entry, people without problems seem to have a "whatever" throw it in the closet kind of approach to acclimation.Lolz!I'll also point out most people who have success with Tangiers also don't overthink it..which helped me watching scoops video who stated "the more you play with it the worse it'll get"Nice of you to take the time Tangiers. jezter6
Erik,I filled out your surveys just so maybe you could help out (and add my data to the results if necessary). I'm not in it for free stuff, I just want to figure out what's going wrong.

mix_tape
The weather been wonky here as of late with the crap load of rain we've been getting, tangiers might work. I'll have to test this out.Who are the hooligans attempting to mess with the results. Goshh.I actually don't expect anything but I'd love to get this right its tough to spend money on a tobacco everyone says great things about and have bowl after bowl not succeed.I just want to experience the great-ness. pinky
Update on Kashmir Apple:I had it in freezer for two days. Took it out yesterday and let it sit for 3 hours, closed the tube overnight, opened it for about half an hour today. I packed a bowl and it's smoking nicely. Flavor is a little dull but definetly better than before. I guess a little more sitting outside prior smoking will do it. I am using the packing method for Nakhla described nearby, maybe a little more hard to say from the pictures. Happy End!
pinky
A little addition (where is the edit button?):It was raining last week in Germany all the time. Temperautre dropped to 20°C. This week is up to 27°C again and very humid. Doesn't have bad effects!
newjacksm
I did the acclimation 4 hours and then another 4 hours the next day, I am getting very light taste I took pictures of how I did my packing ill post it up later. The weather on long island has been very good, not a lot of humidity. This was a new pack of peach ice tea that I saved.

Does it smell right? It did at first but once I dug in my hand and started putting it in the phunnel and basically was unintentionally mixxing up the juices it started to get a bad nail polish / alcohol smell that basically stung the nose. But I still smoked it anyways. I got a tickle in the back of my throat the first 5 min and it went away however, it did irritate the throat and I started coughing a lot. I felt kind of sick, which I haven't in a very long time from smoking hookah. Also the shisha it self wasn't juicy or wet, it was oily.1.2.3.4.5.6.7. Sonthert
That bowl is underpacked. It needs about three peanut M&M sized clumps more in the bowl.
Sonthert
SO, the addresses are in. Everybody is having a playing card assigned to them:If you didn't send me your address, I still assigned a card to you, but took it out of the drawing. Note that there are other cards in the drawing that correspond to people that participated, but aren't on the Hookah Forum actively or at all. If I call a card that doesn't correspond to somebody listed here, its one of these other participants. I decided to expand this to 8Kg, one Kg for each person drawn. For those of you who don't know playing card notation, each playing card has a two digit code. The 3 of spades is 3S, The Queen of Diamonds is QD. The ten of Clubs is TC (Ten=T, King=K, Queen=Q, Jack=J, Spades=S, Clubs=C, Hearts=H, Diamonds=D). I added Familiar Joe since he tried (?) to get his survey in...I included pinky, too...I guess if he gets drawn, he can pay for shipping.Mattarios 4SMix Tape QDNewJacksm THVictim026 JCRalleac ASIh303 5Dilikemyusername TDDoubon QSAntouwan 2SStuie 4HBulldog ACFamiliar Joe 9HPinky 9D
