What Is The Ideal Way To Smoke Lucid Tangiers?

So ive read that you can smoke Lucid just like you do OG, but you can also smoke it a number of different ways.


When you smoke lucid, how do you pack it / manage the heat / size & amount of holes, if it is different from your OG method im interested.



For some reason im having the same luck with my lucid that I am with my OG, not very good.

I've smoked quite a few Lucid flavors - I actually never got OG smoking consistently well, and moved over to lucid because I've had better luck. I pack it like it's any other shisha that doesn't have 'special' packing rules, like Al Fakher or Layalina. Light and fluffy, and just below the foil. It's worked really well for me, consistently. The only Lucid flavor I haven't been able to get smoking well is Lucid Blue Gum Ball.

I think anything smokes better packed a little fuller than most people do, not quite to the point of regular Tangiers, but less seems to work OK.

i pack my lucid the exact same way i pack al fakher, packed lightly. not fluffy.
i sprinkle tobacco in the bowl until it is about 5mm above the rim and then i foil it.

I would pack it in firmly, not tight, but firmly just under the rim, to where its only the rounded part of the rim of the bowl that sticks up. Foil it, then smoke it with less heat than you normally would. Cut your normal amount in half and add as needed.

I've found that the more I pack in the bowl the better the flavor.. I wish I could pack 100g in my phunnel..LOL
Seriously I pack nice and tight, and very light on the coals ( I dont even use 1 whole coal) I use about 3 1/4 pieces of coal on my small phunnel..

Poke holes (preferably toothpick) all the way to the bottom of the bowl. I like to go with 3 rows, each hole about 1/2" apart.

i pack it just like OG. i also use MDL's method (the tutorial is in the tangiers wiki)

it smokes hella good (so does my nak using this method)...i just wish i could get my OG tang to smoke as well as my lucid and nak...

I just had the best tangiers lucid session I have ever had.
I have always packed it like it was OG. But after reading this thread I tried packing it like AF. I sprinkled the tobacco in my hemi bowl slightly under the rim. Put only 1 coco on there. Poked tons of tiny holes like I do with AF. BAM, Best Tangiers session of my life!

5 hour session with Lucid (I have three video's of different sessions, but I'm finding work not editing hookah vids at the moment):

Fork method: STIR the lucid up very well (acclimate it 1-2 hours if you haven't done so)
Scoop up a bunch, plop it in the phunnel (medium for me), it should be fluffed OVER the edge of the phunnel.
With each scoop, pack it down With the fork so that its just SLIGHTLY UNDER the rim (with OG I make sure its compressed slightly OVER the rim).

Repeat.

Foil: fork or toothpick DOWN to the bottom, lots of wholes, including the center.

WARM WATER

Coals: 4- 1/2" pieces of Exotica, three coco's.

10 minutes in: I typically have to REMOVE some heat, if it tickles, or the flavor gets harsh

20 minutes in: I typically have to ADD HEAT, or MOVE HEAT into the center of the phunnel

Manage heat as needed.

2nd round, 3rd, 4th: use 2/3 of the heat you used to get it started, and manage accordingly.


I have had 4-5 hrs of lucid flavor and good billowing smoke consistently.
