Imsomint
Again, I don't know if this is all speculation or overreaction, but I'd figure I'd post it. RingsMaster
well even if they do raise the age everyone who is 18 before the date it is instated will be grandfathered in, secondly dont you love how obama is trying to make it so we cant make our own decision with our lives.thank you to all who voted for him i hope your happy with the outcome
mjdx88
I agree with costi, you should have pic removed pm mush, eric or johnny before it is reported. BTW you can report this yourself and not get in trouble. Also "Choke on my smoke" cmon your going to take who ever said this seriously? We dont know whats going to happen. I don't believe that the administration is going to ban something that could be making money off of. Politicians love finding ways to take our money and spend it unwisely. Anyways, I was going to say so what if shisha becomes banned. It is unhealthy hobby, we all know it. Its not the end of the world. On the other side I hope that nothing does happen since many people on here are making an honest living off of the tobacco business, I hope for their sake nothing does happen. MN_Clouds
I feel like most bloggers are like this picture. just my personal opinion, there are more productive ways to get your viewpoints across besides writing an inflammatory statement. But i do love the diversionary tactics using bolding, caps lock and different colors to hide the lack of facts to back most of these statements up. sigh. Sonthert
I have read S-983 and I have read this guys post. This guys post is a completely ignorant distortion of what's contained in the legislation. In fact, nothing he leaned on is factually correct. The bill does provide for a study to determine the effects of raising the legal smoking age to 21, but the study isn't due for five years, according to the Senate Bill. In my opinion, this guy writing this doesn't know what he's talking about. He is reacting to the mis-characterized media reporting of the bill, which was stronger than the bill was, an overstatement pleasing the anti-tobacco people and making the pro-smoking lobby enraged...this guy bought into it hook, line and sinker. The bill does/was not: Ban flavored tobacco other than flavored cigarettes. This would effectively ban at least half of all pipe tobacco and all the chewing tobacco and snuff. There is specific language in the law that says tobacco manufacturers have to list their ingredients, but in terms of flavorings, they only have to list natural or artificial flavors for the flavors, they don't have to go into specifics of what goes into the flavor. Why would they do that if they were banning all flavored tobacco?Limit the amount of tobacco in cigarettes.Grant Obama any power to regulate tobacco companies.Passed in the amount of time stated. It was passed by the House of Representatives back in April. The U.S. Congress generally runs things by the House and if it passes, it comes before the Senate. The FDA won't be inspecting tobacco manufacturers unless they are found to be not compliant with the FDA Rules. If they are, they won't be charged for it. I'm 70% sure on this point. They are talking about raising taxes on tobacco products to pay for the new FDA regulation...similar to any food, cosmetic or prescription drug. The Bill Does/was:Regulate the chemicals used on the tobacco when it is being grown.Grant the FDA the right to regulate cigarettes to eliminate harmful additives. One of the goals of this bill is to reduce the number of harmful additives that are added to cigarettes either accidentally (DDT on imported tobacco, for instance) or intentionally (By the cigarette manufacturers). It does, unfortunately, ban flavored cigarettes, which is stupid. If the bill didn;t have that in it, I would be a big supporter of it...when I get the bill for the FDA regulation, I may change my mind, but there is language in the bill that makes exceptions and grants variances for small tobacco manufacturers and it directs the FDA to take into account the size of the company in their regulation of them. Sonthert
I did save the link and then hid it so the other mods could decide if it was appropriate and reinstate if they wanted to.I don;t think a picture of a post relating NHT in the post still exonerates OP, but I'm satisfied at simply hiding it.
