Cool hookah though.

It looks like a variation of a no-burn bowl thread that was made in the how-to section i believe. (Dont feel like digging it up). It requires more heat since there is more space that the coals need to heat up....it makes more finicky tobacco easier to manage....however I think its like just putting less shisha in the bowl and leaving a considerable space between the tobacco and the foil...the extra space requires more heat to actually start producing more smoke...I think its more for those who seem to have trouble with managing their coals...its a waste of foil in my opinion.

Honestly, that doesn't look like it hits very well. That was some weak smoke in the base, even for just getting the thing started. It must be indicative of how expensive shisha is in Europe that Germany has so many "novel" solutions, rather than good honest smoking.

I think that metal ring they put on their is a really bad idea. I like the fact that it keep the shisha from burning, but at the same time, I have noticed one of the main reasons a Tangiers bowl works better is than a non Tangiers bowl is that it retains heat a lot better from the coals. Having the bowl hot helps the baccy smoke better. That metal ring prevents not only the shisha from receiving enough heat, but it also prevents the bowl itself from heating up enough. Also don't quite understand why they put the shisha in the bowl and then shook upside down a bunch.

I tried this tonight with AF double apple. It was good as far as shisha did not burn as quickly. I had a good 1.5 hours session without tasting any burnt tobacco. I had to use 3 coconaras to start it with the windcover. I did not put foil around it though.

I would not do it again until I get my hands on cheaper coconut coals e.g. Cocobroicos.

Ugh.. Can you say, way to much engineering on this one? If I had to go through that ordeal of a setup everytime I wanted to smoke, I wouldn't. I think the common methods on this forum alone are enough to show that we seem to be doing it right, with the most minimal of effort needed to produce a superior session.

I'd take the pepsi challenge ANYDAY with a hookah that was set up like that, vs how we do it.

...waste a lot of time getting to the smoking?

Personally the aluminum windocovers are okay, but seriously not necessary.

i've noticed what a few people here (delsol, barnaby, and akammenzind) poked at. if you look at a any german 'wasserpfeifen' (sp?) forums or any shit that germans post on youtube about hookah, they just seem to consistently, underpack the bowl, use way too much foil, poke an INSANE amount of tiny holes in crazy patterns, and many other things. germans just seem to overcomplicate the process completely and end up getting imo, subpar sessions with about 30 times the effort...

Damn skippy.. Out of all those vids that have been linked to here, I can't remember one getting any decent looking clouds. Smoke always seems thin and wispy, so I doubt they're getting good flavor too..
