My LAST case was high in filler, brown ash, fluffy and not dense.THIS case is cooking up with Granulated Grey ash like a cheap quicklight. The smell is astounding and they dont last for shit. Pure charcoal will ash white. When you start finding your coals are getting browner it means the company is skimping on the charcoal component. I have yet to have 1 single bad experience with them. save for the time a friend put 2 coals on a mini bowl and it toasted the shisha. Luckily I was busy and couldn't smoke all but one draw. Why not try with just one?Mush if i recall you dont like coconut coals that well. So the only other thing i can think of besides cocos is a wood coal. Lump wood coal. I've been using Exoticas for a while now and I've noticed a slight change in them but nothing completely different. I've had maybe one or two bad boxes at different times so it seems they are more flukes than just all degraded quality. As far as the Cocos not only are they expensive....but honestly I've always thought they sucked. I've tried three diff brands of coco's and still have 95% of them in their boxes because they aren't worth lighting imho. there's just something i can't quite put my finger on about cocos. First it seems like they take away from the flavor of the shisha, second they go out way too quickly and if you leave them for any amount of time are much harder to start back up, and lastly when I use them I don't feel like my smoking experience is full bodied. (if that makes sense) Sort of like comparing Tangiers or Nak to an herbal shisha. Yes it smokes, but something just feels (full bodied) and right about the Tang/Nak. Just my opinion though. It's disappointing to see exotica's quality going so far downhill. I cant find them in Sacramento anymore. I picked up a box of Starlight Coconut coals. They are okay but they split pretty often and dont stay together completely. I dont like Coconaras because of the price, quality aside. CH coals smell horrible when lighting and I cant light them in the garage. That's about the only good side of the Starlights is that they dont smell bad when lighting. Since I started using them, I'm much happier with my sessions. Heat management is easier, flavor is better, and the bowls last longer. They seem to burn at a lower temp than the coconut coals, which to me is a plus because it's much less likey that I'll torch the bowl.That seems like it would be a plus at a lounge too.Downside of the canarys is that they don't last quite as long, and they're more expensive than the others. I go through 1-3 boxes of Exoticas a night, thats 1-3 kilos.
