I was lighting up some an exotica coal for my hookah and while in another room (i know, a no no but who doesnt do it?) I heard some popping sounds. i ran to the kitchen where i light my coals and my coal jumped off of the burner onto my counter. this was no small jump. I have no idea how this happened, and i figure one of you can offer some theories about this. currently i believe it is because there was an air pocket in the coal which popped and knocked the coal onto the counter top (or something in the coal). my other theory is the ghost in our house put it there. ill show pictures and let you guys determine what happened.

btw this is no bullshit, i wouldn't burn my kitchen counter to pull a prank or fool other people. ill have to pay for the repairs. i only moved the coal back to the burner. on the first picture you will see where the coal was originally. the coil burner was never moved. and the ashes you see from the burn to the burner are from me moving the coal back to its spot. i peeled off one part of the counter which was burned before i took pictures.

damn....sorry that happened to your counter top...and yes I would say that it means the quality is going way down. I say try to find some naturals from your local smoke shop (if they are any good)

I have had this happen too. I haven't observed them popping up that far away, but they do spitter and sput around sometimes. Very rarely though.

I did have one pop while on the bowl and fall. My tray caught it though. I count that blessing often.

I might be trying some Afires too since everyone is talking about Exoticas using more gnomes than usual. Even though I'm die hard exotica fan, never hurts to start looking elsewhere.

It could be an air pocket, ghost, gnome, or i think it could just be that a piece of the coal crumbled rolling the coal off quickly and resting on that spot. With it being square it wouldn't roll like a normal coal. JMO
