jtemes
hey folks.so last time i was on these forums was way back in '06 when Tangiers was getting popular, the phunnel was invented and every other thread was about the Mya QT. I'm back from travelling and decided it's time to get some new supplies.first off, is there any good hookah supplier online that will ship to Canada? second, I've noticed glass phunnels being solds. Are those any good. What about the mini phunnel by tangiers? who sells those?and third, there's soo many brands making the tobacco out there now, what are some of the new good ones?thanks in advance. momatik
I've heard great stuff about the glass phunnels. The glass screens...not so much. The mini phunnel thing was just a little thing Eric did for the forum. As far as I know, they aren't taking any more orders. I could be wrong about that though. You can get small phunnels from most retailers, and Scalli is/was selling a micro phunnel. I don't know if he is still selling that or not.The most popular brands on the forum would have to be:-Tangiers-Nakhla-Al Fakher-StarbuzzBut a lot of brands make one or two great flavors. The reviews section has been consistently growing with additions. Check those out for more on that.
EvansLight
jtemes been a while I too am hoping back into things. But i guess a bit of my knowledge still holds true.Haven't talked with or heard from Tarik at MNH in a while, but he always did good on shipping to Canada. He is also the one that sells the glass phunnels. He also sells regular phunnels i think, haven't checked his site in a while. As far as brands, hookah is getting more popular so of course more brands are popping up. But the good old favorites still hold true. Granted it seems that for some odd ass reason everyone all of the sudden loves Nahkla. Go figure. I personally still with Starbuzz and Fumari. But Tangiers is still a class favorite. And i still have my QT from back in the day when every other thread was about it Granted haven't smoked it in ages. Ah those were the days. jtemes
what's the glass screen? is that to replace aluminum foil? what about scalli's mod, is that still in use?i ask alot of questions.
Arcane
for canada orders, check www.hookahjohn.com however, he just left on vacation and won't ship out any additional orders till 13 July.and from what you just said, it doesn't seem like the hookah biz has changed that much. Tangiers and Nakhla are still top contenders. AF has taken a hit due to QC issues. And Starbuzz is still making its overpriced rounds (sorry, had to ). as far as phunnels, nothing outperforms the Tangiers phunnel...but, if you're looking to save a bit of shisha per session - the crown bowl or something (made by Santino) seems to be the new trend. and you might as well pass on the mini phunnel, unless you want to shell out over $30 to buy it off a member.as far as new good brands, can't think of any....i think the newest brands that came out are Hookah Hookah and Hookah Freak. Both of which tastes/smokes like crap smothered with crap and served on a plate of crap. CRAP!
EvansLight
Glass screens are supposed to be better then foil, but ill take not worrying about dropping my foil any day As for the Scalli mod, once again the MNH site sells said device. One for tangiers phunnel bowls, and if I remember right there glass phunnels come with ones specially made for each bowl. Don't worry, i have lots of answers.Oh and in case you didn't know - http://www.mnhookahs.com

The Caterpillar
Cocos have a higher burn temperature, but ash very little. For that reason, some people (myself included) break them into pieces and place them around the edges of the bowl so as not to concentrate the heat and lose the bowl. To make it easier to prep the cocos, might want to pick up a hot plate from Walgreens ($10) with the exposed coil element for portability and ease of cleaning. The crown jewel, a glass phunnel hybrid, from Santino is awesome. But if it's out of your price range, or you can't wait for the supplier, then I'd just get a Tangiers bowl from one of our fine, unbanned vendors. I personally recommend HookahJohn for his insanely quick shipment (as previously said, he's on vacation ATM).
