mjdx88
If you got the money MTX has a very nice setup for trucks 3 10in subs powered, that sits right behind the driver and passengers seatYour not missing out anyway =P the shipping would cost more than the box it's self Edited June 24, 2009 by mjdx88
ashes87
Thats true, so it would probably be easier to have one built for me where I live than to buy one online honestly.
mjdx88
Naw go for ordering online like ebay or maybe crutchfield a place that will give you free shipping, or find someone you know who can build one right.
delSol_si
Ash (I mean eye candy ), my first double 12" subwoofer box came off ebay for $50 shipped I think it was. Actually ended up buying two, one for me and one for my friend. I gave mine away when I sold my car, but he still has his and it works great. So ya, you might find a good deal.I drive a honda delSol, which is a little two seater...when I took the top off and put it in the trunk, there wasn't a whole lot of room left. I was in an accounting class one day and the professor said that we were to build something, anything, and do the expense report, balance sheet, income sheet, and all that fun stuff for it. I didn't know what to make, but then it dawned on me...subwoofer box! I had 2 12" mb quarts, but really don't need that much in my little car, so I ended up building a single truck style subwoofer box and it works great! And was cheap! I think the 3/4" MDF wood was like 20 bucks or so for a huge ass sheet. I ended up using about a 1/4 of it, would have used less, but I fucked up the first time. So ya, you can get a lot of boxes out of one sheet if you have some friends. And of course screws, glue, and chalk isn't expensive and I am sure you dad probably has some tools you could use. sorry for the thread jack

ashes87
Delsol, I have my own tools. I just need plans and parts, and I could probably build it myself.Used to be an independent contractor.Sorry for additional thread jackage
mjdx88
Heh, I dont really care, at least someone saw my post. You can look up some plans online its not hard to make, what you need to do is figure out the sweet spot of the sub or subs your going to use. Normally the manufacture will put this on the specs sheet. Like my sub requires 1.5L of space inside a sealed box for the sub to work efficiently. For a truck I would make sure I was using subs that required a sealed box. Going in to ported and vented boxes prolly wont work right in the tight space
ashes87
Thanks for the info. I probably wont be putting one in due to my re-wiring project this weekend. Ive had one since I got the truck but it got compounded when a friend installed a deck for me, and then it got screwed even more.Long story to that, but its all good. Sorry!Plans are not hard, I drew out my plans in like 10-15 min. Just make sure you take the thickness of the wood into consideration.

My truck is a Chevy Silverado, 2000 model, and my friend, Chris, can wire vehicles in his sleep.Thankfully, what we need to work on is just lights and how they are tied into the audio system. Dont ask me why, I honestly dont know, but whoever came up with the wiring for that year model truck is a retard.
