An Idea On Solving Tangiers Issues

Here are some of the pictures of that thread.

As my two cents on the topic. You claim acclimation isn't a big issue. I thought the same but at the moment I am acclimating for a week and it doesn't come up right. I thinkt it will but at the moment it is a big issue for me. If you give people a 'foolproof' guide and say acclimating isn't a issue you will blaim em to be stupid if they fail. One the other hand a guide that you can rely on and everybody can follow it would help you for deciding in those cases that it is not packing or heat management.
If you only give people a guideline on how too much and how too little tobacco behaves it will drive people crazy that face acclimation issues because it is like over and underpacked at the same time. If you make such a guide it should take respect for all effects.

The creator of Soex is not a mod here. Nor does anyone smoke that, don't be silly...

But Eric didn't strong arm his way to his position. It is my understanding that he earned his position like the others. And also I do agree that a Tangiers sticky or subforum could be seen as signs of favoring a product by the forum, by means of the staff.

What I suggest is an entire tobacco subforum where people can ask questions regarding specific tobaccos. Where there will be threads on every tobacco in the review thread (more if a mod is asked). In this subforum new threads can't be created by anyone but a mod to keep it from cluttering up. And the mods can work to herd the one or two stragglers making threads in the regular forums. It's a cleaner way but it will require work. I can already guess which thread will streatch further than the mini thread but Hell there won't be 800threads/month.

Tangiers Hint: When Acclimating and Packing Tangiers Tobacco, the worse thing you can do is to Over think what you are doing! K.I.S.S.

Oh yeah and use the Forum Search.

Ah, I knew it all along that there was too much tobacco being used when I pack. Whenever I've tried to follow most of the instructions here, you are led to believe you want to see a big mound about a 1/4 inch over the bowl, and smash it down. From this tutorial, it seems that would not be the case..

Traveling to SD was the only way I finally learned how to make it smoke right.

I've getting ready to place a 2+ kilo order of Tangiers in the next few weeks. I'm no master by any means but, this upcoming order gives me an idea.

How about, when my shisha gets here, I just make a series of videos covering everything from opening the shisha, to long term heat management? Everything would be covered, this would cover acclimation issues, packing methods, coal lighting, everything. Think of it as a "Tangiers for Nubs Guide". While I can't be sure if Eric will do this himself--he shouldn't be expected to, he has a tobacco company to run not to mention everything else in his life--I think this might help some people out.

Let me know if this would help out/be appreciated. I can get it up in the next couple of weeks if you guys think it might help some of the newcomers.

Thanks. smile.gif

I'm done with classes this summer and have nothing but time until August so this will give me a little project. I should place my order on or around the first of July so look for it around a week after that.

You know what I just remembered that the wiki has plenty of details and packing vids on Tangiers.

True but for the visual learners like me, it might help to see living and breathing, so to speak, evidence of all of this. Plus, living in Florida, during summer where our climate is just horrendous, maybe it will help some of my fellow Florida residents out.

I think FAQs should be answers to questions that practically everybody agrees with. I see lots of packing method tutorials for Tangiers, some of which I don't agree with and I think there's Tangiers smokers that vary in what they do. This is a point for discussion, its what the discussion area is. If someone asks "Should I use charcoal or a cigarette lighter to smoke my hookah?" Its a no-brainer for the FAQ section.

Thats my view, anyhow...

when you see people packing Tangiers with a method you don't agree with, but it still works for them...are you ever inclined to try and correct them?

Sometimes. Usually, I'm ust like "well, if they say it works, I'll just have to trust that its true and it works for them." Who am I? The holder of the secret order? I don;t hold a monopoly on proper technique, after all.
