Matchew
Honestly I dont know what makes thick smoke but is it the tobacco?? I just had a session earlier today and we mixed Citrus Mint and Blueberry. I thought it was wierd but then lets just try something new. The outcome was great. Very Very VERY thick smoke. =P Anyways what really makes thick smoke?? mushrat
As said above, smoke comes from proper heat control for the tobacco in question. Different tobaccos have different heat requirements for optimum smoke.

Different tobaccos have different heat requirements for optimum smoke. And to get even more technical, most of the smoke we see is the glycerin added to the tobacco. If you have ever had one of the few brands that don't have glycerin, you will see you get very little smoke. Since we are not directly burning the tobacco, it does not produce as much smoke. In cigarettes the smoke is solid particles, just extremely tiny. Hookahs your smoking mainly a vapor. That is also where heat management comes in. The closer you get to burning the bowl, without actually burning it, the thicker smoke you get. Which is also why each tobacco, each bowl, and each hookah takes different levels of heat to get to that perfect smoke.Ice in the vase can also help condense some of those vapors into smoke, but it can also lower the flavors. If you have ever made ice cream you know that you have to more or less over flavor the liquid you use because the cold reduces the amount of flavor you taste. Granted i could just be talking out my ass, so take it as you will.

obeyfluffy
so... adding glycerin could provide thicker smoke?what would be the perfect amount to add? it always seems like the shisha i get is either too dry or soaked.

I don't know enough about the making the tobacco end of things. You would have to ask Sonthert. As far as i know it needs to be cooked into the tobacco from the start, and just adding a bit later doesn't really help that much. But once again i could be talking out my butt
Sonthert
Adding more will make the flavor weaker, since the flavor is based on the amount thats already on the tobacco.
