gixxer
I hear about most people using a couple of coals on their bowls. I've got a KM and I'm using 3K 33mm coals. I usually break them in half, but if I ever use more than 1 coal it always seems to get very harsh/burn my shisha. I smoke mainly AF so thats where I see the problem, but it's also happened with Laylina. I got away with 1 1/2 on my first bowl of starbuzz though. Any advice? joytron
when people are talking about heat management they are usually talking about phunnel bowls. If one in half is too much try breaking it into smaller pieces.
AmunRa
For AF, I usually use 1/2 of an exotica brick (cut into fourths, and I use two of those). I have also used two coco naras with AF, Starbuzz, etc. with good results. Coco naras burn a little hot though, so I have to be careful.I would say try using 2 33mm coals and see if that works (placed 180 degrees apart on your bowl). Using only one doesn't sound like much, and its surprising that it is causing harshness. Are you using a small bowl? If you bowl holds less than 20 grams, then use one coal, and don't break it apart. (Be mindful of your coal rotation if this is the case.) If your bowl holds 25 - 35 grams, then try 1.5 - 2 of your 3 Kings. Phunnels usually take 2 or more coals of that size dependant upon what brand of tobacco you are using.
gixxer
I'm not positive if its a small bowl since this is my first hookah, its whatever came with my KM. I'll give two a shot tonight after I get home and let you guys know how it worked.
Stuie
I would add a bit more tobacco to the bowl then.
mjdx88
Honestly, if you pack your bowl right ( just pick up AF out of the tub and drop it in with a little push each time to even it out, doing so up to the rim of your bowl.) You need just one 3K coal. For the foil just take a toothpick and punch a hole ever 1/2 cm around the outer edge of the bowl, make sure to go all the way down. and then one tiny poke in the center. this should give you a great setup. Just test the bowl first if the draw is too hard poke the whole in the center all the way down. If it is still hard add 1 or 2 more tiny holes by the center. Then get the coal going to the point there is a slight flame and put it right in the middle. Flipping every 15-20 mins. With a windcover till it gets going. If/when it gets harsh remove the windcover. If the smoke gets thin add the cover back for a little bit. This is how I smoked AF for a year, till I got nat coals. I got great flavorful sessions. The smoke is not as thick as you would see from some of the other members on the forum but its pretty damn good for the lack of heat mgment. antouwan
on standard egyptian/lebanese heads (basically anything but a phunnel) place the tobacco like this. just about even with the rim of the head/bowl. poke your holes something like this.should work. cheers. (don't use that stupid hole punch either, just use a toothpick.
