brianh818
Hey everyone,I'm somewhat new here, though have been looking through the forum for a while for reviews on shisha, coals, etc. Just to tell you all a little about myself, I started loving hookah after living in Egypt for 6 months, about 2 years ago. Ever since I have been an avid hookah smoker and love everything about it. Recently the hookah hoses I brought back from Egypt with me died, so I decided to start a little project and create my own, more durable hoses. They turned out really great, and are extremely durable, as well as washable. Just wondering what you guys thought, I'm thinking of trying to sell them, where you would be able to pick out your own color combinations and whatnot to make it a completely customizable hookah hose. They pull really great as well, better than this khalil mamoon pro hose that I had. I'm just looking for some feedback about what you guys think about the hoses, and if any of you would be interested in buying them or think that I would be able to sell these. Also price suggestions would be appreciated, I'm thinking around $25 or $30, but I would give a big discount to the first couple of people who bought them, as long as they give some feedback and a review of the hose to let others know how they are. Here’s some pictures of the ones I made, I hope you guys can see them, if not let me know and I'll try something else. All my pictures are too large to add as an attachment here so I tried this website.http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=1172242008 Any help would be great, Let me know! brianh818
I didnt realize I could post images on here, so heres some links if the other site doesnt workhttp://www.hookahforum.com/uploads/1235698...154_2_46448.jpghttp://www.hookahforum.com/uploads/1235698...54_2_445198.jpghttp://www.hookahforum.com/uploads/1235698...54_2_585404.jpghttp://www.hookahforum.com/uploads/1235698...54_2_170292.jpg
colto
Wow those look pretty cool. However I am not sure you would easily sell them on a website as most people would probably go for something a bit cheaper from a reputable vendor. BUT, you could definitely get people to buy them here on the Forum if a couple people tried them out and enjoyed them. Could you give us some info on how they are constructed? It might help justify the $25. Cheers and good luck
EvansLight
Really it depends on what there made out of. To compete around that price range your going to need to match the others around there, such as the Nammor hoses. They need to be fully washable, and hit extremely well. They also need to not fall apart a month after you get em like nammor hoses. Not that being said, if its fully washable, i would be willing to buy one for $21 to try and id write you a full review here on the forums. I was looking to buy a new Nammor hose since mine is falling apart too much to live with.
brianh818
Thanks for the replies! Just to elaborate a little, I used pvc piping for the handle and base parts, then used a pvc braided vinyl tube for the hose, which is extremely durable. The handles have a really good feel and weight to them. I had two different sizes for the hose, so that I could make a tight fit within the pvc for glueing, which I used "gorilla super glue" on, as well as a bonding agent. These are definitely not falling apart anytime soon. The hose is wrapped in nylon rope, and I used a cotton rope for one of the handles and bases (the green one), and a polyfin rope for the other (black). I wash all of the ropes before hand to make sure there's no running of colors when its time to clean out the insides and the ropes get wet. I also added some touches on the green hose where the mouthpiece is, which is connected by both glue and stitching. I'm planning on doing the same for the black hose, though havent gotten around to it quite yet. Anyone who wants one would choose both color and length of the hose. I'm still trying to figure out the mouthpiece situation. I had a few mouthpieces from my old hoses that I just put on these new ones I made. Do you think people would be interested in buying just the hose, without the mouthpiece? I'm going to check out my local shop tomorrow and see if they have any mouthpieces that I could get to put on these before trying to sell them, so hopefully that works. Do you guys think a mouthpiece is extremely important at this stage? In reply to EvansLight, I would definitely have you try out my hose if you would like to and all this sounds good. Just let me know what length and colors you want and we can talk further if you'd like to pm me or whateverThanks for the feedback so far!
brianh818
Also, I'm not set on prices yet, i was really looking for what you guys thought would be a fair price, so any suggestions on what you guys think these are worth would be a big help
ilikemyusername
they seem really sweet, but your biggest competition is going to be nammor, razan and grand washables, so check into them and price them competitively, I like them personally and any other hose i'm going to buy is going to run my 20 bucks anyway, and they're not really customiseable. brianh818
Yeah but I'm not really trying to sell them to shops, just on here if people are interested in customizing their hose. Let me know if anyone wants one, the first couple ones I'll sell for $15 plus shipping, you choose length of hose and colors. Just write a review for it after you get it to let other people know if you liked it or not.
Santino
These are good looking hoses man. I'll definitely take one.As far as pricing goes, I would base your price against your cost of materials. Make sure you're covering all expenses necessary and obviously make a couple bucks for your trouble. What colors etc are available? Also I won't need a mouth piece - I actually make my own of the glass variety. brianh818
Awesome, I can do a bunch of different colors, red, blue, green, purple, white, black, yellow, etc. Just let me know what your looking for and the combination/location of colors (handle and hose color) and ill make sure i have it. let me know what length you want also. As i said before, I'll do $15 plus shipping, and shipping shouldn't be expensive, I'll do whatever is cheapest to save you money. Also, i dont know if youd be interested, but if you make your own mouthpieces, maybe we could put our creations together and start selling together. Let me know what you want for you hose! im excited to see what you think of it!
brianh818
Oh and for colors, I can also do different shades of colors as well so you can do a dark blue on light blue, or lime green with dark green, etc.
Santino
This is just a few examples of what we can do. We do a very wide array of varieties as well. I can set up a wholesale pricing for you and offer a drop shipping to whoever buys the hoses to save unnecessary shipping costs. (edit: that is if you wouldn't prefer to do a bulk order, of course.)As far as my hose, I am unfortunately going to be "that guy" and request a 10 ft hose I will insist of course that i pay more than $15 for this. Or at very least give you a mouth tip or bowl free to offset your additional costs. Is this possible?
brianh818
haha, yeah i wasnt expecting an order for a 10 foot hose. Definitely not a problem though. I'm trying to think what a fair price would be, I'm thinking like $25 or $30 or something? Let me know what you think is fair and what colors you would like.
