so i really like starbuzz. of all the brands ive tried i always come back to that one because i think they have the best flavors. certain other brands just make me sick or blehhh i dunno.

does anyone here put starbuzz in the phunnel bowl? i tried it once but it didnt work that great. it was just super weak smoke and flavor the whole time and when i put on more coals it just burnt immediately. im starting to wonder if certain brands of shisha really weren't meant for the phunnel.

i know the phunnels were meant for tangiers but does anyone put other brands in it? im sure they must... but would you pack it like tangiers or pack it regularly

the phunnel works with all tobacco...they just require different methods to smoke well. try to put a little more tobacco than you normally would. maybe sprinkle it in till its 1/4in above the rim and then use the foil to push down the tobacco. smoke.

Just jam it in there and make sure there is no space amongst the tobacco and that you don't have the foil touching the tobacco... that's what I do at least...

Its fine if the foil touches the shisha. Mine does in about every bowl and I've never had a problem

yeah...no problem with the foil touching the tobacco. don't think i've had a bowl where the tobacco, coal and foil don't touch...

I do the opposite, I fill my mini phunnel to the rim, then tamp it down even with the center hole. Using regular foil, or precuts, I punch holes with the shrpened poker on my tongs.Holes are evenly spaced approximately 1/4" apart, with none over the center hole. I use 3 pieces of a quartered Exotica, spaced around the outside. To start up faster, I use a windcover, and go into my redneck steam room (OK, its the bathroom with the shower on at full heat) for about 5 minutes or so. I have full clouds and flavor within three draws, and take off the windcover after about three or four minutes. If it gets harsh, I find that I can fix it by taking off the foil, and scraping the burned tobacco that is stuck to the foil. tamp down the bowl such that no mo'assell touches the foil.
I've been doing this since stabuzz and phunnel first were both introduced, and have only had maybe 1 or 2 sessions that have not been perfect.
This also works with AF, and a small phunnel with mod.

The only time I ever don't have the foil touching the tobacco is with SB. I was merely sharing what works for me...

I smoke Starbuzz out of a phunnel just about every time i smoke at my house. I have never had a problem with it, but then again i also use a method no one else on the forums uses anymore. I put a hole right in the middle, and then make a triangle out from the middle. I place 1 1/2 3k on the triangle area, and just rotate the foil. I don't know if its my method or packing, put i get great length and clouds and especially flavor out of my phunnel and SB all the time.

for most high water content tobaccos (like SB) like AF and Romman i would suggest a light sprinkle method. I just finished smoking a small tang head full of romman watermelon and i just sprinkled the tobacco in there lightly and then poked the bulls eye pattern (not all the way down, either). the results were pretty good but they were no nakhla and def no tangiers (lucid at least :/)

I would recommend packing it in the phunnel pretty good about 3/4 full...not as full as you would with Tangiers.

I grab pinches, put them in so that they are slightly over the rim. Compact down with foil. Then generally a bunch needle size holes and 2 or 3 Starlight CoCo coals. Beautiful smoke.

For your information, this is more or less how I pack everything in my phunnel with the exception of nakhla, never tried Tangiers. I typically reduce the amount of shisha to just at the rim and don't compact.
