sensae
I couldn't find any other topics about this after searching, so I was wondering. First, does anyone use / ever tried Fumari Coals? I dunno if they make other types, but the ones we have are wrapped in silver. I've used silver coals before so I expect them to be like any other - need to be lit on a stove and then blow the silver wrapping off. What I wasn't expecting was what was printed on the box: QUOTE Directions:Using a stove burner, place coals over heat until glowing red. Add lit coals on top of hookah bowl and inhale through the hose to get started. Ignite new coals by placing over lit coals.Um, wtf? Anyone have anything to say about this? I tried it for shits and giggles, didn't seem to work. Misprint? Does Fumari make quicklights too? That's the only thing I can think of.
natgnat
It works.Fumari's are great for just that purpose. Lean a new coal on the side of one currently going, and it'll be started in about 5-10 minutes. Saves you from going back and forth to the stove. It's definitely the highlight of these coals...but at least with my experience, you go through them fairly quickly and they're a bit pricey. Still my go-to's when I don't have to use QL's.
Stuie
They are suppose to be the exact same as Golden Canary's. That's interesting I didn't know that. I would love to try them but man I would use more per bowl than Cocos and they are more expensive than cocos. Might have to give them a try. Sonthert
They are, in fact like that. Good Japanese coals are. The last encounter I had with Fumari coals is they were in the light category of Japanese coals, approximately 15.5g/bar. The new Canaries are 18.8g/bar, the heavy category of Japanese coals. Not bad, though, better than almost anything out there...just a little pricey.

cotsi95
well both, we use fumari because they are slightly cheaper, they work very well, but the canarys work just a LIL bit better lol

redjako
Lighting with other coals...only with Golden Japanese coals, they light themselves (even 2 seconds with a lighter, they will self light in 4 minutes or so).Beautiful sessions.
sensae
Seems I just wasn't patient enough I guess it's nifty for the patient, but my coil burner lights the fumari coals in about 2 minutes. 2 vs 5-10? Coil burner wins.

Sonthert
I usually only light Japanese coals on top of other Japanese coals. The first four I light on the stove, of course, but they light at the same speed, whether on top of other Japanese coals or on the burner...actually, thats not allowing for the amount of time it takes for the burner to get hot. They heat up faster on other coals then they do on the burner...if you have a good amount of coal hot already.
