Joe Chicklets
Hey guys I'm new here so I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I recently purchased my first hookah, the Econo Mya Gelato. For a while I had borrowed my friends hookah and it's got a smaller bowl, smaller stem, shorter hose, and hits smoother with less effort and with thicker smoke. We would use Hookah-Hookah Green Apple. When I got my hookah I set it all up, I had some Romman Melon Berry that came with the hookah and golden insta-light coals. I've tried with more and less water to see if anything is more effective. So I guess my question is did I do anything wrong? Does my Hookah have to get "broken in" before it really starts hitting thicker?

Water levels are important, the water and ice should reach right up to the top of the main 'globe' of the vase. You might just be seeing different smoke because of different shisha. Also, you might be packing the bowl wrong. There are two methods for the typical egyptian clay bowl you have, one is to pack it fluffy and then poke holes all the way to the bottom, the other would be to pack it fairly tight, then once you have the foil on, puff really hard, once, into the stem of the bowl to free the chunk of shisha so that it's loose in the bowl. ryno
My guess is that Romman will need more heat that HH.

I've done less too, maybe it's just me but i feel like it's taking much more effort than I had with my friends. The way I packed it was filled it to the top and then mixed it around so it was looser. What do you mean when you say poke holes to the bottom? Take a tooth pick and poke the shisha to the bottom of the bowl? I purchased some Nakhla/El Basha grape that i'm going to try soon. Do you think 1 coal will be enough for that or should I try 2 this time? Joe Chicklets
Oh and freeos do you feel like the grommet on top doesn't fit right? I've been wondering if that has something to do with it, i feel like it doesn't full seal or something.

Does my Hookah have to get "broken in" before it really starts hitting thicker?from my experience, since romman has changed up their 'formula' its gotten trickier. i'm yet to get a "wow, that was a good smoke" from it. i would suggest not using romman, and definitely not using hookah hookah. you need to try a few different brands. also you will most definitely want to get a new hose and probably a better head. i'm sure there's a way to get both romman and HH to smoke well, but imo HH is just waaayy too shitty, and Romman way too expensive for what it is. you'd be MUCH better off trying Al Fakher, Nakhla, and fusion. (all of those are much more decently priced than Romman, and worth a hell of a lot more)
Crys
heat management seems to be the issue for me at least when the smoke isn't rightI'm fairly new to smoking hookah, just got my own pipe about a month ago, and I've already found that as my heat management has gotten better I get better smoketry differing the amount of coals or how you break them...I've personally gone to a single coal and one of those bowl topped windscreens, with that I'm getting enough heat to make HH, Nakhla, and Havana smoke really well without burning the shishaso my suggestion would be to play around with your heating method
Sonthert
Hookahs may take a couple of bowls to get seasoned. You may have an obstruction in your hose or shank, too. The hose may be defective. Take off the hose and blow through it...does it feel tight or reasonably loose?
