Fixing Hoses Possible?

Recommended Posts

I have a washable Nammor hose that I have had for several months. It's worked great so far, no problems whatsoever. But recently The bottom of the handles has come unglued. I can shove it in every once and a while and it works for about 10-15 minutes then comes apart again. I can tell the it was glued before. Should I use more super glue and put it together, or is there something more permanent that I can use. I don't want to wrap the whole thing with tape cause that would make it look a bit cheesy. Whatever help you all can provide will be much appreciated.

super glue will hold, but not make an air tight seal. Siliconized acrylic latex caulc will make an air tight seal but won't hold, so heres what I did, I put a nice layer of silicone and a nice layer of superglue, it's been holding for a month now, last time it lasted 6 months. theres probably a better substance, but I haven't found it yet.

Only smoked out of km hoses but know the nammor/razan hose smoke well. My problem is though why do you guys keep buying them if they fall apart I've had my km hose for a year now and it has never come apart and still smokes great. Just wondering.

I used epoxy to fix mine.

Anybody heard about this before:

Health risksThe primary risk associated with epoxy use is sensitization to the hardener, which, over time, can induce an allergic reaction. It is a main source of occupational asthma among users of plastics.[10]

Both epichlorohydrin[11] and bisphenol A[12] are endocrine disruptors.

According to some reports [13] Bisphenol A is linked to the following effects in humans:

  • oestrogenic activity;
  • alteration of male reproductive organs;
  • early puberty induction;
  • shortened duration of breast feeding;
  • pancreatic cancer

    This would be the first time I buy a nammor hose (and of course I bought two of them scratch_one-s_head.gif ), may need to try km hoses since I have heard other stories of how easy they fall apart.

Epoxy would probably hold/seal the best, but as mentioned above, most formulas contain endocrine disruptors. I would say go with epoxy unless you're really worried about the health issues with epoxy, otherwise duct tape.

Up until recently, most consumer plastics contained some kind of endocrine disruptor because they can strengthen the plastic without making it opaque. So, if you've been eating/drinking anything packaged in plastic or polymer-coated cans then you have more than likely been exposed to these chemicals many, many times before. Edited by Svaals

I krazy glued it in then sealed it with teflon tape, then a layer of duct tape, then a layer of electrical tape. I dabbed some krazy glue on the end of the strip of electrical tape so it doesn't move or come undone and leave that sticky residue.

This is reason enough for me to never buy a nammor product. Ever.

Edit: in after thought, i see a lot of people have bought these. Before they break, are they exceptional hoses? Are there other redeeming factors besides the washability? Edited by Can-O-War

they are really great hoses BEFORE they break...after they break, you can keep the ends...buy yourself some tubing at home depot and build your own.

my hose lasted me about 2 weeks...with 2-3 washings a day.

i have a Grandwashable that's VERY similar to the Nammor/Razan hose and it doesn't even seem close to falling apart on me.... Edited by arcane

Personally I thought mine worked exceptionally well. It lasted well over a year, was frequently used and sometimes abused, it would get left in my truck in 100+ degree weather sometimes for a few days at a time. It sucks mine finally fell apart but its easy enough to fix and still smokes extremely well.

I just keep shoving things back together xD Call me lazy, but i just keep shoving things back together as they fall apart, and forgo actually fixing it.

Thats what I've been doing so far, but when people come over and grab the hose and falls to pieces, is a little embarassing. dry.gif I think I'm going to try using epoxy despite the risk. Besides most of you guys have used it and you all are still here, right! laugh.gif

When I've used superglue, you NEED to let the sucker dry, the fumes WILL be present in the hose, so don't just fix it and start using it (as I have done a few times since the bowls going), as your throat gets scratched to hell.

Fix it in some down time, use an alternate in the interim.

I'm a strong supporter of duct tape..."If you can't duct it, fuck it!"

my nammor is has both the mouth end and hookah end duct taped in...you cant even see that I did it and it works like a charm, perfect seal, plus I can take off both "ports" when I go to wash the hose.
