Spats
So I got a FedEx box today on my epic quest to "try all" (so little time, so much shisha). I ordered a few Soex 50 g. (I know, I know, sucks is closer to it than Soex) but I had found a few flavors to be ok. Well, this Soex Pan Rasna is anything but 'da bomb and I haven't even popped the cellophane on it. I swear it smells like soap The whole box reeks of cheap hotel bar soap but it's improving as it airs out. Whaddya think, just chuck the Pan Rasna? I hate to toss out a head much less a hose from a soapy flavor... The Bombay Pan Massala is beginning to smell human, but the Rasna is still spooky-soapy.What else should I stay away from

Isn't that the herbal stuff? That might be why. But really, if it keeps smelling a bit better at a time, just let it sit, stir it, or whatnot, but I've never tried soex, so I honestly don't know. There's a review forum just to prevent incidents like this ;-)
kvtaco17
Pan Massala is an acquired taste... have you had the real thing? http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-pan-masala.htmfyi
indian_villager
Born and raised in India. I am a big fan of afzal/soex pan flavors. I swear that is all those two brands have done well. I have to try their Rooh Hafza flavors as well.

I have a few Indian and Paki friends that make me eat their mommy's cooking so I'm accoustomed... and I love it

Thanks for the link as it explained a lot, I can now discern some of the scents escaping the cellophane now. I actually enjoy and cook a fair amount of "aquired taste" items so maybe this'll be one of them! Worse case is I buy a new box for the luggage and stop stealing hotel soap to keep the mustiness out. indian_villager
From the looks of it texas hookah has the best selection as far as afzal goes. I think they are the only ones carrying pan rasna.
