Thats super cheap. If I ever make it to the middle east I may need to stock up and fed-ex it all back. (easier than going through customs with 50 kilos worth of tobacco) <----not sure why I used this emoticon, but it was too cool not to use sooner or later. mikeburns
well smoked this stuff finally last night. It is very pleasant to smoke, though not alot of strawberry flavour (compared to the intense flavour of the al fahker two apple). The smoke was nice and thick and white (though not as expansive as the af). Overall very enjoyable, though its going to take me forever to get through 500gms!thanks everyone for the replies
mikeburns
im just wondering if perhaps i was doing something wrong inthe preparation of the strawberry bahraini shisha... the flavour was very minimal (but the smoke was lovely and white and billowy). It just didnt have much flavour compared to the af two apple. Also I had the Al waha africano kiwi (apparently a highly rated al waha flavour) and that too had very little flavour (the smoke was no where near as good as the strawberry or 2 apples either). So is there a way to increase flavour? I figured they should all taste fairly strong like the 2 apple...

mikeburns
packed it the same as the af two apple. not too loose but pushed down a little bit (plenty of air was getting through and the smoke was still lovely and thick). The coal we used was the taru quicklites that have failry good reviews as far as no flavour etc. They were small coals though (22mm) so had to use two at a time with a can as a wind guard. I think it was burning fine as the smoke didnt get harsh (except once when we moved the coals). So maybe its just because im new to shisha and expected the flavour to be more intense and less subtle. Mind you as I mentioned before the AF double apple was exactly what I was expecting, strong thick smoke with a strong and noticeable taste. thecyrax
I'm going to say that there was either too much heat on the bowl or your hole pattern didn't provide for enough air flow.
Sonthert
Strawberry flavors tend towards being on the light side. Bahraini tobacco can be leaning towards lightly flavored, with a big tobacco flavor in it. Is it black or artificially dyed anyhow?
mikeburns
its artificially died red, same as the af two apple and aw africano kiwi. The thing is the kiwi didnt have much flavour too it either, the bowl had holes put all the way aound the tin foil like everyone recommends and as I said i was cretainly getting lots of smoke just not alot of flavour. Im going to give it another go over the next fewweeks though to hopefully perfect it and also with some bigger coals to see if that helps.
Sonthert
I would try acclimating it. (Gasp!) Before you go changing your procedure.

fineout
mike, it may be thats its just not a super strong flavored tobacco. I havent really had any strawberry flavors that have really really impressed me in the heavy flavor category but i like the lighter flavors. Most shisha doesnt taste exactly how strong it smells unfortunately and that can be a disappointment to newer hookah smokers where they think itll taste like a strawberry lolipop or drinking juice or something, but its not its just the nature of the tobacco. You'll understand soon enough. Hell maybe im wrong and it will end up being better next time but dont always expect every flavor to be filling your mouth up with flavor (although ive heard some brands can pull it off but i havent tried them) Edited July 13, 2009 by fineout
mikeburns
Thanks fine out, thats what I was beginning to think. It def prob didnt get a chance to aclimate either, the smell has changed a little now after a few days open. Like a deeper smell, but maybe not as sickly sweet as before.I am def one of those new smokers that thought it would taste a lot stronger, but now i think about it it did have a nice flavour, but it did taste a bit more tobaccoey than the af and the aw.I just kinda blew my head off with the Al Fahker 2 apples. Damn I really really like that flavour. Lots of people on this forum hate it but its just so grunty and flavourful and the smoke is just so so thick mmm ive been dreaming about it since I first tried it. I actually think the bahraini strawberry was easily as nice smoke as the AF, just not as much strong flavour thats all. Going to have another blast this weekend on the strawberry for sure, perhaps to with a fresher set of taste buds. The bahraini was the last flavour I tried (after 2.5 hours of the two apples and a good 2 hours of the kiwifruit flavour). So that probably had an effect as I could still taste the anise of the two apples about 3 hours later ahaha. It def seems like quality smoke that bahraini, but it does seem to have a lot of stems and big uncut leaves in there, which isnt too good a sign.To the dude that says pack it like nahkler, ive never had nahkler, but peeps here say to pack it fairly densly and apply lots of heat so Ill be trying that this weekend, gosh im completely sold on shisha now, I mean ive gone all ocd on it ahahahah
mikeburns
twoapplesplease: I got that tobacco at dubai airport on the way home from africa. They seemed to have a fair bit of it (as well as heaps of Al Fahker) so I presume it isnttoo hard to buy, but it was by far the most expensive shisha there (I know that price doesnt mean much). But when your in the middle east (or near enough) and thats all they have and its expensive and made locally it kinda led me to believe it would be pretty decent.Im definitely not bummed about the purchase, it was much better than the al waha kiwifruit (which didnt taste or smell anything like a kiwifruit believe me). The smoke alone was worth it, and i reckon i might be able to get the strawberry flavour boosting with a but of mucking around. My hookah is a bit of a cheapie (apparently nahkla made but i suspect china) and it lets a little air through as well in places (which im in the process of rectifying) but damn i was getting crazy clouds of smoke from it from all three tobaccos so cant have been doing too much wrong, and the AF sure did taste amazing!Im a total convert on 2 apples (AF) anyone else agree?
