Big Problem

Recommended Posts

ok so i was cleaning my mya mini today. and i took this old cloth i had with a weighted string on it, used for cleaning out tubes and stuff. well i drop it down and all is well i get about 70% of the cloth through and it starts to jam in the tapered male end. and now i cant get it out, its ripped and jamed shut, ive tride pushing and pulling from both ends. at this point ive begun to tear at it shred by shred hopefully til its all gone.
does anyone have any insight? its jammed hard.

have you tried a long rod or like a chopstick, and then putting pressure to push it out?

ive tried a long screwdriver, chopstick, straight rod on a handle.
even a skewer with a sharp end to try and push through im trying to tear at it to make it loose. ive made a little progress but not a ton.

Try soaking it hot water and pushing it out.

Edit: Pour a capful of olive oil down the stem too... maybe that will lube it up.

I'd try a hose with a nozzle on the jet setting

its in there so tight i seriously doubt a garden hose would work but ill try it when i get home.

This is what I would try. Soaking it in near-boiling water should shrink the cloth quite a bit.

the match idea would work. Id get a caot hanger, undo the hook part so you get a kinbd of corkscrew end and try twisting it in to wind the cloth on it and pull it out. If that fails, a drill with a long bit.

i actually already tried a drywall screw and a long handled screw driver. but it didnt work. granted i didnt just pull it out by the screw i tried to unscrew it and pull but that didnt work. i tried burning it with a torch lighter, but i only burnt the end hanging out ive yet to try and burn the part thats lodged in the tapered male end. which isnt very long so i wouldnt haveto burn much.
thanks for the suggestions keep em coming, i cant get a downstem locally and id like to break open my new package of after nine mix tonight lol

lol like i said, i fixed it
i had to take a screwdriver, allen wrench among cylindrical type objects and hammer them in from the narrow part down til i eventually got it alll the way down to the bottom and just pulled it out hah.

the lighter fluid wouldnt work because there wouldnt be enough air, the flame would shoot out the un jammed end and diminish because the towel was in so tightly that it had 0 airflow through that end.

trust me, i tried burning it with a torch lighter, as soon as the flame got into the stem it died.

I had a friend with a towel, pencil, pen, and exacto knife handle stuck in his.

My solution hasn't failed me so far. Metal Rod, carpeted area. Push it as far as you can then start lightly tapping it against the carpeted area so you won't damage anything. Gets it out every time.

More fire! And yea using cloth on mini mya's is pointless. They are rough cast on the inside and will destroy anything you put in there. Mine eats brushes. Besides why did you use cloth? Worried about moisture? They are brass, it doesn't matter.

Was going to suggest liquid soap, but olive oil sounds much better.
