rhineholt
On my new hookah, I got a bowl that came with it, a standard MYA bowl. The only problem was that when I smoked it, it barely gave out any smoke. So I decided to use a different bowl with bigger holes. It worked fine, for a while. I put it on and it was snug; no problems. Then, about 10 min into the session, I notice it's tipping a bit so I went to push it back down on the hookah, but it kept popping up. It wouldn't stay down anymore.I really don't know what to do.I need help!! What should i do? Get a bowl with a wider base? Thanks in advance! beantownhookah
lol sounds like you need a better Gasket, a buddy of mine bought a generic modern hookah and he was having the same problem. The gasket fits but it was smooth as a babies bottom, there was no friction between the bowl and the stem.. so when the bowl got warm it slipped off. joytron
some of the juice might be dripping through the bowl onto the stem GROMMET causing it to be loose.

no longer welcome
egyptian style grommets work better than modern or mya grommets, they do have more friction and help from bowls creeping up and falling off. the modern bowl grommets, or gaskets, are better for chinese porcelain bowls but who uses those bowls anymore? The Caterpillar
Quick fix until you get a better bowl:1)Get a piece of paper towel, <1" width that is long enough to wrap around the grommet. 2)Get it wet, but squeeze so that it is not dripping as the drops will get into the ash tray because when you ash your coals you'll have cold spots on the coal where the water ran to. It will seal much better though the juices are going to run out due to the construction of an egyptian bowl; it's their nature.

Does this go for the hose grommets as well? The grasket for the bowl seems to work fine on my mya gyro, but the hose ones seem to be too thin and slippery. No air flow will give you a little smoke, a little flavours, then the top layer of the tobacco scortches and its over. As for the sliding bowl, try roughing up the GROMMET. if that doesn't help, you can always resort to little but of wet paper towel around or instead of the GROMMET. Thats what we use in the lounge for bowls that want to ride up.

Namenone
Yeah i remember i had this happen once or twice, something to do with the heat. I just use a paper towel piece around the GROMMET. Quick easy fix.Weird though, i havent had the problem recently. I think its also caused by the juice leaking out the bottom making it slippery. Vampy6997
ftw....some newbie is going to come into hf and be wondering wtf is wrong with us with this grasket, grosket, grommet, gasket, bold, capitalized, large, repetitive insanity that's going on. It currently looks like comic book wars in here.
