Perfect Water Level..for A Mya Qt?

Recommended Posts

i fill mine up to the same level as shown in the picture...not your red line, but the actual color shift in the vase.

basically, i fill up as much water as i can, take a hard rip from the hose port and if i don't suck up water, i'm good...

I also fill mine to about the same line as the color change in the picture. I think if it is any fuller it restricts the draw, but that's just me. I also like to get as much smoke stored in the base as possible, but still retaining enough water to cool the smoke.

More water the better I say..a diffuser assists in no splash-back into the hose RE: More water w/ diffuser.

Edit: Sometimes a test, just fill up the base, and suck through the port...if you slog a bunch of water, its too much. Adjust accordingly.

I constantly smoke out of my QT, I'd say a little bit lower than the line, just because at that red line, the water sometimes gets in the hose. Unless you have a defuser to reduce bubbles.

If anything, fill up your QT, then put the stem in, and suck in the hose port to see if water comes up at all. If it does, obviously dump some water out. smile.gif Awesome trick I use for my other hookahs that have dark vases which you can't see the water line.

EDIT: Suck in hose port, meaning without hose. Edited by IamWhee

I usually fill up just under that line. It looks like about 1/2"-3/4" of the stem is in the water, seems to work great for me.

exactly, 14 oz just like i said...j/k
serously though, a diffusor is A-OK to have on a QT unless you have a washable hose.

sorry, I don't think that makes sense anymore, I was ripped wide open last night, I remember it sounding perfect.

At the lounge I used to run, we used QT's exclusively. We used to fill up our bases exactly like it's shown in your picture. (not your red line but where you see the water level at) We observed if we filled it any further, we would get water in the hose. Not exactly a "slog", but after a while, you can feel a slight resistance of water in the hose. Of course, we didnt' use diffusers. That would certainly make a difference.

I fill mine to the same place as your line. It doesn't smoke well with much less than that, but seems to smoke well with any ammount over it. There is a limit where you start to get water in the hose, though.

Keep doing what your doing. If you're having problems, then it is probably in your heat management or bowl packing.
