Smoke Tastes Like Coals

Recommended Posts

Hey guys smile.gif
It's been a while I haven't posted here, but everyday I visit this website and lurk around, but don't post much.

So here's my problem.. since about one week, everytime I have a smoking session (AF 2 apples), the smoke doesn't taste much at all, it's like a coal/bad taste. I never had this problem before.

I thought maybe I had a bad batch of 3 kings (that's what I use since years), so I tried using Coco Nara's (lighted them for 15mins, so they were glowing red all around), but I'm having the same results. I also tried lighting my QL 3kings the same way instead of with a lighter, and it didnt change anything.

Is it possible I got a bad batch of QL's? I bought a box and tried a few rolls and its always that same coal taste.. I tried switching the hose too, but it doesn't change a thing.

I find it strange and frustrating. I know it's not the heat management because I've been doing it that way for years (start with the coal on the side) with always great results, plus I checked and the shisha wasn't half burned..

Could it be the AF 2apples thats bad? It smells normal and the expiration date is 2010, maybe I'll try some Nakhla to see if it does the same..

Just wondering if anyone ever had that issue and looking for some advice from the great posters here smile.gif

Thanks!

Make sure you give your hookah a good wash. Lots of little holes. Try putting two layers of foil instead of one.

Do not use a wind cover if you were. mmm Cannot think of anything else. Maybe it is a bad batch of Nakhla. Try to get rid of the stems in the shisha.

Clean it with alcohol rub or cheap vodka. Baking soda and lemon juice work very well also. Use a stem brush if you have it. Use heavy duty foil if you aren't. Pack more tobacco in the bowl. Try using a different hose (the taste might be stuck in there).

Well you say its not heat management but thats exactly what it sounds like. What kind of bowl are you using? Are you only using one coal? because if so you might want to break the coal in half and put it on opposite sides of the bowl.
