NEVER transport the tobacco directly into the tin. The tin has a tendency to oxidize when it meets any acid in the flavorings. I had dark areas of juice that were on the tin and realized after a second that the tin was oxidizing and quickly transported the tobacco into a bag and then put that into the tin.

aren't the tins coated?

i did this with my 250g of nak strawberry without any problems and it smoked great!

The coated interior isnt the part you have to worry about, it's the metal ring around the top, any tobacco that contacts that ring will oxidize the metal. I just wouldnt do it, if you can keep any tobacco from touching that ring and wanna go through that kind of hassle, be my guest.

Why would they be coated?

Some things are naturally more acidic/alkaline or corrosive than others. Orange is a real killer.
